Was up this past weekend and the fishing was fair but the weather was perfect! I caught about 55-60 perch and 4 pumpkinseeds total for the weekend. Was fishing in about 6-8 feet of water using a slip bobber and waxies right off of the bottom. Was fishing left of the island.

Hopefully heading up this weekend and was wondering if there is anything happening on Moccasin? Any bits of help would be greatly appreciated, and will post a report when I get back. Thanks

Ice Depth: 9" Conditions: Snowing Air Temp: Below 0° F
Glubby the ice should be around 7-10" with some snow on top. No vehicle traffic yet. 4 wheelers will be able to get around, snow is not deep. I would not think there is any slush. I have been to nearby lakes. I am putting my shanty out tomorrow and going to North Twin Monday-Tuesday.

Well, lets see, this weekend was very VERY interesting. First to start off I missed a beautiful muskie 42-45 inches at least on a sucker. Was almost to the net but spit it. Then today was the real kicker, I missed about a 150+ inch, 10+ point buck on our land up on Moccasin Lake. O Boy what a weekend!! Does anyone have an idea where to do some crappie/any fish fishing before the ice starts up here?

Hey Glubby:

If you know where Dentines point is, that is good for Crappies/Walleyes late afternoon/sunset. Dentines is the small peninsula on the south side of the lake. Fish the dropoff with the usual ice gear and you should get some action. The drop off at the end of the main peninsula can be good as well. Don't forget the north side of the "rock". Where is your place on Moc?

Let the ice be plentiful so I can be up there by the first of December. Has anyone ever icefished the Moc? I have all the tools to ice fish but I was wondering where you get crappies through the ice.

Tight lines,

I fished a lake close to there on Saturday. Water surface temp. was 44. My guess would be the middle of deer season.

Hey, if anyone has been up there lately, what has the weather been like. I was wondering when it will ice over, cuz that is when I'll be up there next.

For muskies drift down the shore line from the Island south and around the weedy corner to the smaller peninsula. This time of year throw slow moving glider baits or big suspending Rapala type baits that stay 2 to 4 feet down. Stop and go sloow retrieve. With a second rod drag a large minnow on a quick strike rig 15' to 25' behind the boat. If you're picking up weeds put a bobber on. The fish you bring up to the boat on the plug may very well drop back and hit the live bait. For crappies look at the lake map and fish drop off areas starting near shore and out into the deeper holes. Sunrise/sunset best. Minnows and worms. Watch out for the surprise walleye. Check out this walleye from my trip 9-04.

Heading up this next week for a few days because of Teacher's Convention. Will be doing a little bit of deer hunting for some does (already shot a buck) and a lot of fishing. What are some recommendations on where to fish for the crappies or muskies? Thanks

Hey Glubby, Yes we caught that Musky and Walleye in Moc. That was My wifes biggest Musky and my biggest Walleye from Moc. Caught the Walleye on a top water musky bait. Can you believe it? We were up for 15 days and the weather was warm and beautiful almost every day. It did effect the fishing negatively but I'll take nice weather and less fish any day. The crappies did start to turn on toward the end. Here is a stringer we kept. Besides the Walleye we CPR'd everything else as usual. I have ice fished there in the past and early/late season is best. The drop offs into the holes off of the two peninsulas seem to best for walleye and crappies. The weed beds for northern. Keep me posted on your trip up later this month.
