Conditions: Cloudy Air Temp: 21° - 25° F Water Temp: Below 40° F
Checked out Upper Weed Dam pond Sunday afternoon, maybe 2 and a half three (3) inches of ice. Ice sags and cracks when you go out from shore 10 feet or so and water comes up. I think it will be a couple more days, possibly Wednesday or Thursday for the ice near shore to be safe enough to venture out.

Ice Depth: 8" Conditions: Partly Sunny Air Temp: 26° - 30° F
8" out about 100 yards or so from the landing. big thanks to the gentleman who drilled a hole for me after my buddy pulled the recoil cord out of his auger. did catch one little 4" perch. marked a few others but with all the 4 wheeler racing going on I don't think the fish were that hungry. Wondering

Ice Depth: 6" Conditions: Partly Sunny Air Temp: 11° - 15° F
Fished on new yrs eve during the day. We fished left of the launch by the small island. We caught a bunch of small gills most of the time we were out. Small jigs with waxies for those. we had three flags go up but didnt get a hook in any. was out from about 9:30 am till 5 in the afternoon. Was good to be back out. Ice was a good 5 to 6 inches.

When is the fishing derby this year? I'm not seeing any info on it anywhere. Thanks.

Ice conditions not good, only half to 3/4 inches of ice with heavy snow on top, I would not step one foot on the ice yet . Not safe.

Like others have said, there is no fish derby on UPPER red.

However there will be a derby on LOWER red sometime in February, unsure of exact date at this time. Next time I head into town I will write down exact date.

Awww, come on man, the radar runs out are fun! In fact I fish this lake VERY often and catch some of my best fish during the radar runs. I know its a zoo with all the people out there but you still catch fish. Plus the stock car races last year were great to watch! You could always move to lower for the day. I've done better down there this year then I have on Upper.
