Hard walking from a south side boat launch kept us shallow fishing pannies. Small perch and sparse weeds sent us moving once trudging farther out. The pic shows lots of weeds but we had to fight off a pike attack while some gills and crappy warily ignored our waxies and minnow heads. All fish released including the smallest perch I've caught in a while.
Work caused me to drive by the lake today. While re-filling my coffee cup at the BP, saw a guy out in the middle with a portable shack setting up for the day, appeared to have walked out. Also saw a permanent shack on the east side of the lake....must have been abandoned?
Anyway, this dude was at least 1/3-mile off the east shoreline...straight out from the small river inlet...hope he did well!
I wouldn't be surprised if you still see guys driving out, not saying you should just wouldnt be surprised. With approximately 20 inches of ice last week still, and with this cold especially today and tomorrow with single digit lows, there's at least a few weeks left of safe ice, even though no ice is safe. I'll be giving it a shot Sunday.

Well with the turn of tge weather im thinking of leaving the boat in the garage and trying one more ice fishing outingbthis weekend. Is the ice still safe enough to walk out on or would that not ne a good idea?
