Fishing Shawano the next couple of days with wife and mother in law, she's 82. She loves catching bass. Any recommendations? Wouldn't mind catching crappie or walleye either. Just want her to have fun. We have a rental boat without depth finder or trolling motor, hard to find end spots. Suggestions on spots?

Got out on Shawano Lake for a few hours with the world famous, Ricky Rosebush. The Walleye were on pretty good during the morning hours and then a decent 39" Musky to end the afternoon. The Walleye all came of crankbaits, (23"-24" in pics) and one on a bucktail. Go figure. The Musky ate a topwater. All fish released. Good day on the water and looking forward to getting back out in a couple weeks.
Back in the day (and Im talking way back) before the Sturgeon Park was made, the area opposite the paper mill was a wooded area with many trees on the shore. Mostly, we would have to cast side arm or under arm to get our bait out. Anyway, early in the season, we would fish for crappies using small minnows and there were times we really did well with an occassional pike and even a few walleyes. Some years I seem to recall picking up stripers. I have gone there a few times in recent years but would not even know how to fish from shore. Outside from an old timer (even older than me) once (about five years ago), I have not seen anyone fish from shore but the old timer who was fishing a daredevil told me he goes for an hour to two every week and has caught a few muskies. I would have to see that to 100% believe it. A few years ago, there was a guy in a boat fishing close to shore on the paper mill side and he was catching fish but what I don't know. Also, many years ago you could fish the paper mill side as there was no fence and nobody said anything. I remember catching a pretty decent smallmouth on the paper mill side.
