Went out fly-fishing for bluegill yesterday, got a few nice ones on a black popper, no fish were interested in my other offerings. I think they have moved to deeper weededges now that the spawn is all over.

Made 4 trips for muskies in the last 2 weeks. Targeted quite a few different areas, threw a bunch of different styles of baits with fast and slow retrieves. Caught a couple big bass and pike, but no skies. A majority of my fishing was done on weed edges, both deep and relatively shallow. Fished over big weed flats and some open water too. About the only thing I didn't spend much time doing was fishing shallow (less than 4 fow) but I couldn't seem to find much for inside edges to fish because the weeds are pretty thick tight to shore. I'm not sure what to think. Anybody having better luck than me?

Oh, and a 7.5" phantom softail got most of the attention from bass and pike on weed edges breaking into deep water. No pike on small buck tails for me, which I thought was odd.

The Wisconsin DNR has confirmed that it is a logperch. I never saw one before. BTW, is anyone catching any of the small walleye that were recently released into Lake Shawano?

My wife and I were on Shawano last night. Off the north shore in weeds about 7-8 fow. The bite was pretty good when we found fish. Stopped at first spot fished 10 minutes with nothing, moved 20ft and were on top of them. Steady action until the wind picked up, twisted the boat and we we off them. Decided to call it a night as we have enough fish and I could get the cleaned before dark. We found them 20-30 ft off the emerging weed tips where the weed growth wasn't as high but, still there as fish were tangling us in them. Try, move a casting distance and try again, or drift if you hit a fish, drop an anchor and try that spot. Don't forget to very your bobber depths.

Good luck, have fun!

I'm staying on the lake for the week and would love to get my kids on to some great panfish action. Does anyone know if they went deep and kind of where I might be able to start.

Logperch are prey species for larger piscivorous fishes. Many fish that feed on logperch are used extensively by humans as game fish, including largemouth bass

About 16 feet of water in the area of blue gill hill. After looking at pictures I think it's definitely a Logperch.
