Looking at the MODIS imagery from today, there are some open pockets on multiple areas around the lake, but a majority is iced up. Shouldn't be long now with the wind and if we could get some rain. Any day now!

Thanks for the report. I guess I won't bother wasting the gas money and time to try. Time to get the gear cleaned up and put away till next year.

FISHING REPORT

Went out today and fished for maybe 30 min. Only 7 inches of ice straight out from spinning wheel. With the strong winds the ice was really creaking and cracking, so bad that I decided to hang the vexilar up for the year til next ice. I'm a die hard but not a dumb a$$!! I would expect the ice to break up soon if it didn't start already after I left!

I am looking to get out on the ice one more time this year. Anyone know if the shoreline is stable enough to walk out? I'll try any area/side of the lake, just wanna get out safely.

Thanks

FISHING REPORT
3/19/15 10:03 PM CST
Ice Depth: 18" Conditions: Partly Sunny Air Temp: 36° - 40° F
Had some free time so went out to Shawano to see if the ice was fishable. Had heard it was decent, and found it to be in great condition. I went off Cecil and walked out. Saw some quads out there quite away further out than me. Not many people out. Bit breezy and sun was going down. No snow on the ice, but the surface has a bit of roughness to it that makes walking easy. Kept tapping ahead with my spud bar and it generally didn't go in more that 1/4" or so. To save time just fished out of holes already there (had to chip a couple open). Didn't measure with a ruler, and my estimate of 18" is on the conservative side; could be more like 20" or so. Each hole I visited seemed in great shape with nice clear ice below the surface. Barring rain or higher heat, it should last awhile. As for fish caught, that was a big zero. Still a great day out and plan to get out over the next few days.

FISHING REPORT

Ice Depth: 23"
Fished Sunday, 3/15 and did pretty good. Slow start but got onto to some nice perch. One nice 10 incher. Ice was decent enough for me to drive out but probably the last time. Surface is rotted but every hole I drilled was a good solid 23" at least. Plan on a few days this week for sure!

Ice Depth: 22" Conditions: Partly Sunny Air Temp: 41° - 45° F
First I am going to vent, this is for those who don't give a rats___!! about our great resources. If you are so inclined to leave your cans, cigarettes(birds and fish see this as food)and garbage on the ice stay home I cant imagine what your property looks like?

Fished this morning caught many perch only 1 keeper most were 2-4 inches and a lot of them 10-12fow. I measured compared to Friday afternoon same holes went from 24" to 22". Sounds like lows in the 20's with some teens this week, should be fishable for awhile. I walked out and will the rest of the way.
