fishing below the dam a long ways, managed a 42"19.8 oz tiger musky from shore... im proud to say it is my first musky and i was far from prepared... thankfully some guy was there and totally assisted with the entire ordeal. it was truly a great time but think i need to invest in a couple things... it was the craziest rush i have ever had from fishing in my life time...

FISHING REPORT
5/6/13 4:10 PM CST
Fished from 7:30-11:00 this morning. We hit nearly the entire outside of the lake, focusing mostly on areas we found new submerging weeds, between depths of 1-7 F.O.W..... We didn't have any follows or strikes. We were surprised not to move any fish, but the water temps are still relatively low

Skis present at the dam this afternoon. Took the "scenic route" on a gopher run. Just saw small males sniffing around. What else is new. Big girls should be showing up soon. Water clarity is poor.RAT.

Spring is here! A month late, let's not forget about the annual fishing frenzy on the backwaters at Vilas Park. Gills stacked up in there, good practice fishing, a great place to take kids! The fishing is always hot, gills not the biggest but very tastey, the lake needs to be thinned, those little gills are the best tasting fish on the Madison lakes!

Fished Wingra for 3 hours Saturday. My friend and I caught over 100 small bluegills. They hit on everything except black. I did end up catching this nice 12 inch crappie.

FISHING REPORT

Ice Depth: 10" Conditions: Partly Sunny Air Temp: 21° - 25° F
Hit Wingra for the sundown bite. it didn't disappoint. Crappies started hitting aroudn 5pm and I couldn't keep up with two tip-downs. As fast as I coiuld pull one out and rebait the other would drop. All small except for 1 nice 12" fish. Several had bite marks and I found out why. As I pulled a fish up something big hit it. Hung on for about 2 minutes while I tried to play it up to the hole to get a look, but it let go before I got a peek. That crappie was missing most of the scales on its tail when I got it through the ice. the bite stopped at about 6:30. Last bite was also something big. that fight didn't last too long as I was bit off after about 30 seconds. Lots of fun. Fished off Knickerbocker in 7 to 9 fow with crappie minnows.

Fillet Show The lakes that require floatation are within madison city limits and are controlled by the city and as for waubesa and kegonsa they are under county jurisdiction.
