ducks4remi, I sent you a PM but didn't hear back from you. Were you part of the large group staying at Birch Cove? I hope you did well! I managed to find a few LM Bass, Northerns, and a couple Muskies while I was up Friday through Tuesday. Ken

Doesn't look like a lot of activity/reports on this lake but I am bringing the family up next week. Looking for mainly pan fish as the kids are younger. Feel free to message me off the board so my brother-in-laws don't see any tips posted here. I would like to keep the streak alive of catching more than they do. Big Smile

Good seeing you too and great to be back up north! One of them muskies we saw actually followed in one of those Timber Doodles we bought! Who needs musky baits? LOL! Wink

It looks like the drawdown was a success. I saw no signs of the curly leaf and there is the bonus of a bunch of timber that was completely submerged for years that is now either floating or now repositioned and sticking up out of the water. Dangerous for navigation, but easy to locate to fish. We caught many northerns, LMBs, and my son hooked and lost a walleye close to 30 inches long all on artificials. Even had a couple muskies follow. I was worried, but now I am a believer in the drawdown concept.

How bad of fish kill did Musser have with the drawdown plus harsh winter? Is there any fish left?

I hope to get up there this weekend to check it out. I heard that for the most part, the ice guys left the lake alone. I sure hope the drawdown puts a dent in the curly leaf since we haven't been able to chemically treat it. I'll post after the weekend if I do finally make it up.

Have they raised the waters back to normal yet? I will be up in a few weeks working the shorelines for some lunkers. How do you think the fish will recover from the drawdown? I hope they protected them from being overharvested this winter!

Plenty walleye, just small. Best areas on the west end of the lake by the rock pile.

Thanks for the update Ken and John! We are heading up tomorrow and will be hitting above and below the dam as well as the boat launch so we'll see how we do. Hope the weather holds. Also will be trying down on the town chain and maybe taking a run up to sailor lake if we have time. BB

John,

Not bad! This is the little one my son got over the musky opener. At least it broke the long winter ice.

Ken, I have 4 in the boat so far in 3 half day trips. On of our guides put 10 in the boat on Saturday. Action is picking up. Most of the fish we are getting are males and they are beat up!!! Some were still bleeding from their wounds so the spawn can't be that far gone!!!!

Hey John,

Any luck with the muskies yet? Was up over the weekend and I had a few hits but nothing pinned. It was weird, there were still some late spawners up in the shallows making a ruckus. I thought they had finished up a couple weeks ago! At any rate, plan to hit it hard the rest of the week. About 5 hours to departure! Tounge Out
