Just following up on ice conditions hoping to help some others out. I checked the ice today and by my standards, it's safe... of course use your own judgement on what you are comfortable with. One shanty out on the ice, so maybe there will be a report later? I hand drilled several holes on each side of the lake moving out to just shy of the center from each side. Minimum 4.5 inches of ice on all ruler measurements, Max ice about 4.75". Ice is good quality with just some melted snow glazing on top... no standing water or anything like that. Easy enough to walk without cleats. Air temp 30 degrees and will be continually falling throughout the day. I plan to fish Sunday morning. I will post a report on how we do. Good luck on wherever you go and take precautions because as we know, every body of water is different.

Thanks for the ice updates. We will continue to make some great ice this week with the nighttime lows. I won't get out until next weekend, but will report on how I do.

2 1/4 inches, next to road as of 1100 today. Managed to bring the drill with the dead battery, not that it mattered. 2 1/4 is not enough for me to walk out any further. Next week, maybe.

Just wondering how the ice is forming on Lake George. I won't even attempt it until safe, but hoping within the next week we'll have safe ice. Please share what you know. Thanks!

5-28-15- caught about 20 bluegills, a bass, and a small crappie. 2 females gills not spawned out the rest were. Could not find any beds in shallow. Fish did bite before dark and then the mosquitos really bit. Had to pay for the 4 inches of rain i guess.

4-11-15 was hoping the water was warm enough for panfish to be in the shallows. It was not. Lots of teel, wood ducks, sandhill cranes, and a loon. Caught 3 bluegills, lost one, and missed one. vid- couple fish and a small canoe ride.

The fish were aggressive today! Even the crappies came out to play! Fish are still in the shallows.

This was actually my first time trying it. I saw a few posts on Iceshanty.com saying how good they are. All I can say is I won't be doing it again hahaha! I wouldn't recommend it. On the other hand, the perch wings were great but way too small! Nothing compared to walleye wings!
