MOON PHASE (18%)

ICE DEPTH
4 inches

Fished Monday afternoon. Spudded around and found 4 inches of ice near shore and where we fished. Found something that somebody left behind right on shore. If you can tell me what it was I will be sure to get it back to you.

I was one of the few guys fishing here last night. Yes there is some safe ice to walk on near shore. But ice varied alot! Spudded all around trying to get a little farther out than the couple guys out but I failed. The spud was shooting thru all over the place but in some spots closer to shore I had a solid 5 inches of ice. Only go out if you have a spud and know how to use it (its not a walking stick that you tap on the ice with) and carry ice picks with you. Otherwise with the end of this week getting into the mid to upper 30s, Id give it a couple weeks and youll be able to walk anywhere you want. With that said I did manage to pick a small walleye up before dark on a rippin rap. Good luck! BE SAFE!

Tool you are headed in the right direction with your thoughts on trolling for Eyes in the spring.   Just remember the water is cold and to slow down couple that with what you are already looking at and you should find success.

Hey guys...  I realize this may be a long shot asking for trolling advice for these Fox river walleyes, but if somebody wants to PM me, that would be awesome.

I am a newbie to fishing the fox, but I have always loved trolling for muskies, but now I am getting into walleyes.

My question is, how would one go about trolling for these good walleyes during the spring spawning season?  I guess I was thinking of maybe trying to troll the channel, channel breaks, and then maybe try the shallower flats next to the channel once the sun drops down, and also after dark.

again, I understand if nobody wants to give up their go to spots.  I’m just looking to get a ballpark idea of where to start with.

Thank you much to anybody that can point me in the right direction.

I second the Rickter anchor, I have the 18 for my 16.5 smoker craft and love it. I anchor in some fast current on the Illinois River and up by the dam a the Fox. It holds and you can get it back!

Thanks for the anchor advice guys.  I ordered the 25# Richter.  Not sure if the 25 is overkill for my 16.5 alumacraft or not, but I didn’t want to be undersized either.
