FISHING REPORT
8/10/14 8:39 PM CST
Jason Strickland, Mike Emole and they boys were treated to some great fishing the past two days. Yesterday we filled a five gallon bucket with perch and then topped off the day with 38 walleye in 3 hours. Today they wanted to get on the road early so we only fished less than have a day but still managed 17 more eyes. Yesterday all fish were caught trolling on harnesses, j-7's, and spoons. Today we casted for the first hour and pulled seven fish before putting the trolling gear in the water. Perch were caught north of C can and walleye were west of rattlesnake island. I am open both days the weekend of August 23 and 24 if anyone is interested.

FISHING REPORT
8/3/14 9:29 PM CST
Saturday Clint Smith and the boys started out perch fishing north east of little pick reef and had a really good bite going until Mother Nature decided to interrupt us with strong winds, rain and an impressive lightning show. We yanked the anchor and rode out the storm that lasted about an hour and a half! After the storm, we decided to go after the eyes north east of niagra reef. We pulled spoons, j-7's, and harnesses behind jet divers and ended up with 25 walleye with the biggest going just over 28"! Great day with a great crew, already looking forward to their trip next year. Today I took my dad, two brothers, 3yr old niece and Kenley perch fishing near where we walleye fished yesterday. The action was pretty much up and down from the time we started. The perch were a little smaller than the jumbo's we caught yesterday but we ended with 20 lbs in an hour and a half of fishing. With football starting in the morning, I am off until Saturday. I apologize for not posting reports this year, I have been super busy and just got lazy. In a wrap, fishing has been awesome! I have run around 40 walleye charters and had a limit or within a couple fish of a limit every trip but one! Most of our fish have been caught trolling worm harnesses, spoons, and j-7's but we did have a couple days where we had limit catches casting worms. Perch season is starting to heat up now and if the past couple days are an indication to the rest of the summer/fall, it is going to be fun. I have open weekends left in August and September for combo perch/walleye trips!

Thursday brought strong winds in the morning so we held off until 2:00 to take off. We started trolling 4 miles ne of niagra reef and started catching right away. We continued to pick at the fish until we had our 24 fish limit around 8:00. Saturday was a steady bite with our 30 fish limit by 12:30. Sunday was another good bite but my crew wanted to be done by 11:00 so we ended up 2 fish short of our 30 fish. Most fish were caught on worm harnesses but we did pull a few on spoons and crank baits. Also thought I would throw in a pic of my mount from some of the fish I pulled through the ice this winter.

Great fishing the past week with Woodsy's crew from Cincinnati, Chuck Spivey's crew from northern KY and Tom Orr's crew from St. Louis. Casting was slow but we did catch a few fish slinging worms but the trolling bite was awesome. We had limit catches Wednesday-Sunday fishing west of rattlesnake island. Worm harnesses and j-7's caught most of our walleye. We had three fish ohio's with the biggest going 29 1/2"! I am off for a few days spending some time with Tana and the kids so we enjoyed soak city today and heading to the Toledo Zoo later in the week.

It was a great day on the water with an awesome group of guys. We started trolling 12 miles north east of the marina near the kidney and had great marks but the fish were sluggish. After trolling a little farther west, we found a pod of active fish and caught good until it slowed back down around noon. Around 1:00, we decided to giving casting a shot to change things up; bad decision by me because we didn't catch another eye lol. We pulled lines at 2:00 with 29 walleye (one stinking fish short of a limit). That one fish is still eating away at me. We caught fish on spoons, worm harnesses, and j-7's behind jet and dipsey divers. I had a lot of fun yesterday, hope to see you guys again. I was off today but fishing tomorrow through Sunday.

FISHING REPORT

Fishing picked up today after a tough couple of days Tuesday and Wednesday. We started casting on Tuesday and pulled 3 fish before deciding to throw the trolling gear in the water. We pulled three fish in the first couple minutes but then a thunderstorm came threw providing us with lightning, heavy rain and gusty winds but it only lasted a few minutes before clearing up. About an hour later, another storm came through that was 10 times worse that the first one! The lake went from 3 footers to 7-8 footers within minutes! After fighting with storm number two for 30 minutes, it finally cleared and we got back to fishing. In the end, we had 17 eyes in the boat. On Wednesday, we were treated to 3-5 footers until 11:00 and then the lake settled down for the afternoon. We ended with 23 walleye. Today, we ended with a 4 man limit by noon. Trolling fish came on mainly harnesses but I did catch a few on spoons and j-7's. All casting gigs came on hold indiana blades fished on he bottom. We fished a different location each day from 8 miles west of the marina to 14 miles north east of the marina. I am off tomorrow but fish this weekend and every day next week except Tuesday.

Fished north of West Sister this morning pulling a 3 person limit in 4 hours. 1 oz in line with harnesses and crawlers. Most fish were in top 18 feet of water with a few coming on bottom bouncers. Blades with purple seemed to do best. Speeds were 1.2 to 1.5. Fish were perfect eating size 16 - 22 inches. Great day on the lake. Most of the Charters were trolling spoons behind jet divers and catching plenty.

Fishing was good again today. We made two drifts and pulled six keepers and released a couple sub 15" eyes. The trollers were smacking them pretty good so we switched over and finished out our 4 man limit in a little over two hours. We were fishing south of rattle snake island in 32 fow. The fish we caught casting were hugging the bottom but we did catch some high fish trolling. Harnesses, spoons, and j-7's were the baits of choice.

I have not heard of anything going on around Kelly's

Fished out of Port Clinton for my first time on Erie. Went with Shore Nuf charters on the Watona head boat last Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Had fun but heard a lot of you should have been here last week. Left with 1 nice walleye and 1 eater cat both times out. There were a few people with more but most left with no fish. The Mayfly hatch may not have helped our cause. Both trips I fished next to people who said they left with their limits multiple times in the previous weeks but not that day. If I come back next year I might have to come a couple of weeks earlier. Took the Jet boat to Put In Bay Sunday afternoon. The microbrew pub was good and lots of good food everywhere. Just watch out for the crazy golf cart drivers. Later D.W.

I had a great weekend of fishing with Chris Anderson jr and sr. We started casting Saturday morning we headed out north of west sister island and made a couple of drifts putting 15 eyes in the boat. Chris sr. had never trolled and wanted to see what it was like so threw the gear in to show him how it was done. In about an hour of trolling we caught our last three fish and threw back quite a few more. Today was another casting day with out 18 coming in two drifts . All casting fish were caught on gold bladed harnesses fished close to the bottom.

Walleye fishing continues to be very good with many limit catches. Monday we fished north of west sister island trolling spoons, j-7's and worm harnesses behind jets and dipsey divers. We finished off our 6 man limit around 10:30 and got my cheese heads in early for their 8 hr drive home. Eric and crew are a blast to fish with. Tuesday we went back out to the same area and found the fish moved a couple miles farther north but once we found them, it was game on. At one point we had 6 fish on at once. We again finished out limit around 10:30 and then decided to check out the shallows but we found the skinny water to be pretty empty. Yesterday I decided to stop about 5 miles se of where I fished the past couple of days and we had an absolute fire drill! We had 18 fish in the boat before we got all of our lines in the water and had 36 fish in the boat at 9:00 and lost at least 10 more! For the second straight year, Jim Gravel and his Cincinnati boys had two great days of fishing. Since I got in early the boat got a complete scrubbing from head to toe. Off until the weekend.

Sorry for the lack of reports, I have been really busy the past few days. I am going to keep is short because I am dead tired! Thursday 5 man limit casting by 12:00. Friday and Saturday 6 man limits each day trolling. Today 6 man limit both casting and trolling. I have fished three totally different areas from 5 miles west of west sister to rattlesnake island. Casting fish are all coming off the bottom on gold harnesses and trolling fish are coming on harnesses, j-7's, and spoons. Three more days in a row and then two needed days off. Sorry but no pics, I am going to bed (even though it is still light, 3 am comes awful early)

Awesome walleye fishing continues! 36 fish casting by 11:00 Friday and 10:30 Saturday. Sunday, we had a 5 man limit by 12:00. All fish were caught on worm harnesses fished near the bottom north of c can. Since I was back in early on Friday I went and picked up Kenley and took her out for a couple hours and got her in on the action trolling close to the marina.
