Took some gentleman this morning and caught a limit of crappie. The fish were shallow and eager to eat. Their problem is the fisherman are eager to eat them. So to make long story short the next time they are released it will be in lake Crisco. They are dropping the lake however the fish still seem to be on the banks.

Good time for sure!

Caught a few bass on jerk baits and all of the crappie on jigs.

Fished yesterday afternoon for a couple of hours with some really fine young men. They are in the learning stage on bass fishing and we had a little lesson on suspending jerk bait fishing.  The boys are eager to learn and caught some bass and even a nice fat keeper.

The bass are on secondary wind blow points and if there is bait fish there they are willing to bite. The bite is light and they want the bait dead still. big crappie are also hitting this same pattern and are usually 12 inches or bigger. The water color on this end of the lake is still good but it seems to be getting stained a little more as the recent rains has muddied up the upper lake and it is moving down. Fishing slow is the best pattern.

Mr Crappie showed me how it was done today. We fished for about an hour and caught a few bass then we moved into a wind blow pocket. Well the rest is history Mr Crappie my good friend Mike caught the heck out of big jumbo crappie. Mike caught all of them on a old school crappie jig and catch them was a understatement. He caught his limit and then was culling for about an hour.  Good time for sure and a Happy Birthday for my good friend.

The crappie bite is fair to good. They are dropping the lake and the fish are moving away from the banks and suspending.. I can't believe they were on the banks a week ago with water temps in the low to mid 40s. They will bite a jig fished slow above the tops of brush or chunk rock. I have several that are going to get released back in the lake but several that are going for their final swim in lake Crisco with their cornmeal coat on.   The bass bite is OK but catching a good one is tough for me right now.... Got to figure them out soon.

A much tougher day today..They have dropped the lake a couple of feet and the fish have pulled away from the banks and suspended. This makes them much tougher to find and pattern. We caught several bass today and crappie but really had to work for them.Caught the bass on a jerk bait or a jig and all of the crappie except one big one came off off a jig.  The water on the dam end of the lake looks real good still. Back at it again tomorrow...

The fishing changed again. The wind blew from the north and a front blew in last night. The water is clear in my area lower Lake of the Ozarks but other areas look like you could plow them.  Boats everywhere today... Caught several bass today but no picture takers and 9 Jumbo crappie.  The bass were biting a jerk bait and the crappie were biting on a jig. The fishing was tough but better than sitting home on the couch.

Caught several bass on secondary wind blown points and pockets. My fishing partner was catching one crappie after another on a old school crappie jig.  The fishing was red hot for about an hour and a half then they just stopped.   The crappie was not huge but real good eating size.

Beautiful day I had to go fishing......Good thing I did as the fishing was pretty good. We caught several Bass and several big crappie. All of the fish we caught today was on a jerk bait. We fished several places without success and then we hit the good one. For about an hour we caught one after another..That's the way we like it ...

Fished yesterday with the members of the St.Elizabeth Bass Club. With the weather being warm it was a good day to fish. I took the boys out to teach them how to fish a suspending jerk bait. It was a tough day for the boys however we did catch some fish. We caught some big crappie and a few bass. All in all we had a instructional fishing trip and caught some fish as a bonus.

If you can catch a good warming trend now is the time to come to the lake. Numbers of fish are not being caught but some big ones are starting to bite. This will only get only better with time. The fish are shallower than you would expect. The bite is light and sometime hard to detect.

The past few trips I have been on the lake the bite was on a custom painted jerk bait shad pattern.

Some big fish are being caught on Jigs,Jerk Baits and Alabama Rigs. There was one bass over eight weighed in this past weekend. Needless to say that fish took big bass. That's a dandy for sure. This time of the year is when most of the heavy weights are caught but you have to remember big fish don't get big being dumb.Very few fish are caught over eight each year here at the lake. I would be willing to say less than a dozen each year.
