MOON PHASE (40%)
Waxing Crescent

Recent surveys suggest the walleye, bass and northern pike numbers and size are looking good. It may be a little more challenging to find the active fish in Fish Trap Lake due to its complex shoreline, but, the reward may be worth it. The lake has a 24-36” protected slot limit for northern pike that appears to be protecting some of the larger fish in the system. Look for the humps and island breaks to find the walleye. Several decent year classes can be caught. Fish Trap Lake can offer some abundant crappie, and this year should be no exception. Look to the back bays around the opener for this panfish and potential bass action.  Source:MN DNR

Hi Minnesota, I fished Fishtrap Lake over the week end with my son that has a cabin on the lake. We fished deep water areas with large red tails boating three eyes 17,21 and a beautiful 24.5". All released. Water temp was at 53 degrees and rather clear. I would expect turnover now but the lake really didn't look like it occured. ??? (some lake don't I guess) Looking forward to coming back next spring or maybe through the ice? Us Wis. guys need to get use to that 1 rod thing. I'm a three rod troller on Lake Michigan so it is a real change. Thanks for sharing your great resource.
