There are fry everywhere in the shallows which means some of the salmon already spawned successfully...time for the steelies!!!

My brother-in-law lives in Jones and is gonna try to do some walleye fishing on the Joe before the 15th, I don't live in the area but I am trying to get him some info on the fishery. Are there any good spots to fish from shore? He is gonna try the dam by Mottville. He is a novice walleye angler and any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Was out monday below berrian springs. Walleye were tough but I managed to jig up three keepers in about four hours. They seem to be hitting lightly on crazy colored jigs, like Blue, purple and black. Did better down river more, caught nother near the dam. Across from the boat launch I caught a couple of small sauger.
They seemed to be taking lots of steelhead on the spawn sacs. I tried a couple of crank baits while i was jigging but nothing. I saw nearly everyone catch a steely and a few were giant.
