Went up last weekend..the water was WARM!!! We had a lil Fishin derby out of Goodman Wi...about 30 of us got together and it was a go anywhere bring back some nice fish thing..it was fun. Well I hit the ol ponds here and for the first 30 mins or so I caught 1 Bluegill..thought about it and checked temp...HOT..mid 70's down 7 feet. Bathwater..went out a bit deeper and off a rock ledge we started hittin smallies on crawlers..mostly the 12-15 inch range but steady all darn day..my buddy wound up with a 19 inch smallie for the day wieghed in at 3lbs 1 oz..nice but unfortunatley only tied for first. But like I said..it was steady..caught one crappie and asst sunfish/gills and rockies of course..tried for some walleyes for a bit...no luck there. That place is so pretty..sure didn't want to come home!
Man has the fishing been great..just got back from camping here...sorry no pics yet..but the fishin was great...bigger than your hand bluegills and sunfish..Bass every third strike..and kept us busy all day!...hit some really nice wallyeye on pond 1 also. When the gills slow down..just hit a 10 ft deep area anywhere and fish close to the bottom for decent Perch..9" to 12". Caught a 37" Pike too! I highly reccomend this scenic spot...best of them is the lesser fished 3rd pond..hard to access but if you get your canoe or rowboat back in there your going to have a great time!
Going there this weekend..my Dad just showed me this spot and has been doing great on the bass and caught a lunker walleye on the big pond. He has been going there for years... looks like fun! Being an avid crappie guy I hope to pick up some slabs off of there this weekend even with the cooler water right now. Will post with pics if we do any good.
On Friday, I caught one crappie, 11 inches, wtt caught one perch good nine inches. camped for the weekend, cold, windy, it was a blast.Saw a porcupine as we were leaving the ponds, got some good pictures.Joz was skunked, but was an awesome captain!!!
anybody doing anything on walleyes this spring? we've been getting a few here and there, but pretty slow. I think the recent warm up should help things a little. 38 degrees last weekend, felt like we should've been hard water fishing!!
Fished the first pond on Monday. Caught lots of perch. I only keep those over 8 inches, so I only kept 5. Tried minnows, crawlers, and waxies. Almost all fish were caught on the waxies. I was the only boat out there. Didn't check the ponds by the dike.
