Also not a report but a reminder to those who enjoy these beautiful lakes. I have noticed as well as others have that people have been leaving a lot of trash behind beer bottles smashed on rocks beer cans tossed in the lake batteries left in fire pits people use to cook on dirty diapers just total disrespect for the land please leave the shores and camp sites better then you found them. State law says also that on state or county land you are not to cut standing timber. Pack out what you pack in please! Our accesses to this land is a privalage not a rite we should all do our part and work together to keep this area enjoyable to the next visiters.

I was there Saturday. The water level is a little low but not to bad. Water temps are or were high 78 & 79. We marked tons of fish all small. We saw tons of fish all small. I had Bluegills and bass following my bucktail back to the boat all small. I got one small bass. There where several boats out on two of the ponds. Other then that im guessing it's still as you remember...

If you're from Iron Mountain, head out of town on M-95. When you get to Randville, turn right where the Randville Bar is. Stay straight on that road until the road turns a 90 degree left. The gravel road on your right is your turn to the Mine Ponds. Skip the first right hand turn because that's someones camp, otherwise if you take every right you will run into a pond... if you skip that right to the 1st pond, you will run into 2 more ponds. All 3 of these have boat landings. Post again if you can't find it, or post your e-mail address...I'll make sure you find your way. It's great backwoods country and fun family fishing.

Yep, water still about the same level as it has been... just use one of the 3 new landings, and you'll be alright. That old landing is the only one that's tough to get a boat in.

If you're looking for a place to take the kids for non-stop panfish/bass action, water temps are 75 and the "dinks" are snappin'!!! A worm and bobber casted at any shoreline is a surefire way to hold a 6-year-olds attention with bites every few seconds. While my son and girlfriend were busy catchin', I did experiment with 5.5" swimbaits, and caught a few nicer Bass (13-14"), as well as a few dinks off the deep end of the boat. Good luck!

Just got back from checking ice.... I drilled in the 3 ponds closest to the old mine. In about 6-10 FOW I measured 4 1/8". In about 12-15 FOW I measured 3 7/8". I didn't go any further; I was by myself. On 2 of the ponds there was no sign of anyone fishing yet, but there were a couple guys fishing in a spot where there is about 20 FOW. They were a long walk out, and I wasn't making the walk by myself. Personally, I don't fish any less than 4". With precautionary measures taken; it should be good to go by the weekend. Good luck to anyone who makes it out!!!

Bait Shop Guy,

I haven't checked the ice here yet, but I just got back from Little Badwater (which is the first body of water in Dickinson County that gets fishable ice), and there was 4" by the shore (NOT in the deeper waters). For the last 3 years, the Mine Ponds have run 2" BEHIND Little Badwater, so I would imagine there is only a couple inches today. If nobody else posts here this week, I'll try and run out here and check by the weekend. I would think with these temps it should be ready by next weekend, but please be advised: the Mine Ponds DO NOT freeze evenly at first...you can walk on the first couple inches by shore while looking at open water in the deeper holes.
