Dead River Storage Basin Lake, Marquette County (all postings)

Once again a great trip to the U.P. and two straight days of constant smallmouth action on the Dead. Best smallmouth lake that nobody has ever heard of and no other boats within a mile of us? Also caught bonus walleye but was to lazy to clean them so they all went back to grow even bigger for our trip next year. Our smallys average over 2.5 lbs and we caught them shallow all day long!

Fisherman2004, a majority of those fish that you took pictures of look like they were taken right infront of my camp from what i can tell from the backround of the pictures. good job on those fish, cant wait till i can get out there to fish.

Needless to say we had quite the success that day.

Fisherman2004, i have a camp on the hoist basin (deadriver storage basin), i hate to ask this as in it might be a 'secret spot' or something to you, but where do you usually fish there? and what do you use? maybe we can trade spots? my AIM is Srobocop0615, and my e-mail is srobocop04@yahoo.com if your interested or willing to chat about it.

Any other lakes that would be worth checking out this fall that have boat access.

I don't know if I would fish the dead this fall. The water level is ridiculously low. Probably about 10 feet lower than normal. I'm not sure how this would affect the fish as in I don't know where I would go.

Hows the fall walleye fishing on this lake thinking about checking it out this week. Any particular places to try or techniques or baits to use, never fished this body of water before. Any info would be appreciated.
