Went out for a few hours on Sunday and got into some crappie. I also did some bass fishing without connecting on anything. Not sure if the bass still aren't big enough for normal sized lures or I just need to put a full day into finding them.

Has anyone fished the new area now that the boat ramp is open? I went out Sunday with my two young sons and did some bobber/worm fishing from the shore. We caught a good amount of small largemouth in the 2-4” range but nothing of any size. I'm debating about taking the boat out in the next few weeks and wondered if anything was swimming that could bend a MH bait caster.

Tossed a line for a couple hours after an unsuccessful dove hunt. Managed to snag a few (4) decent sized big mouths (no tape or scale on hand today). 3 were on a red-eyed white scum frog, 1 on a green trick stick rigged Texas.

Fishing has been hot and heavy this year. The finished part of the lake to the west of 220th St, has produced many opportunities for great fishing this summer, with Black Crappie biting all summer long. Numbers were high in early and late summer, with most fish averaging between 8-9 inches. Some Crappies from 10-12 inches have been caught. You'll have to do your homework, but the fishing can be extremely bountiful. Happy fishing!
