FISHING REPORT
6/13/10 6:38 PM CST
Conditions: Cloudy Air Temp: 71° - 75° F Water Temp: 71° - 75° F
Spent the last couple of days fishing the North end of pool 10 by the dam. We caught big white bass and sheepshead until our arms hurt! Had my 8 year old grandson, Will out with me today. We had a blast! Caught a few walleyes and sauger also, but they were small. Set-up above some snags and fished for cats. Will is pictured with a couple of cats we caught and two of the bigger white bass we boated.

Largemouth bass and northerns have been biting excellent the last couple of weeks and continue to be on a rip. We're also getting some nice smallmouth bass and walleyes.

Take a kid fishing! Big Smile

FISHING REPORT

Conditions: Sunny Air Temp: 66° - 70° F Water Temp: 51° - 55° F
Full day trip with brothers Troy and Chad. Launched at PDC to a cool, windy morning. The water temp dropped over 10 degrees with Wedn. nites downpour and cool nights. The bite was actually pretty good from the start. On our first stop we boated a white bass and a walleye in the 20 inch range. Almost each stop we made produced a fish or two. Later in the morning we got on some real nice largemouths. The guys are pictured with a couple. They are definitely spawned out. We fished some areas south of PDC in the afternoon, but not much luck down there. The water was pretty dirty.

Fun day. Thanks guys!

Conditions: Sunny Air Temp: 66° - 70° F Water Temp: 56° - 60° F
Fished the upper end of Pool 10 today with my Grandson, Will. We had a great day catching a mixed bag of fish. We had between 15-20 largemouths up to 3 pounds, a few northern, bluegills, and a few sheephead. Yesterday the strong South wind made it a bear to fish, but today, it was just about perfect! The photos are a double Will and I caught today, and the other is one with his brother, Wyatt, holding up the biggest bluegill he caught.

FISHING REPORT

Conditions: Cloudy Air Temp: 56° - 60° F Water Temp: 56° - 60° F
Spent the morning fishing the North end of Pool 10. Water levels continue to fall and the water temp is right at 60 degrees. Largemouth bass fishing is good right now. I boated between 20 and 25 this morning. No giants, but some nice fat ones. Caught them all throwing crankbaits. Saw a couple of nice Northerns caught by other anglers, and a big dogfish found my bait. Angry

The river is coming to life.......lots of Eagles, ducks, geese and other wildlife. Smile

As always, thanks for reading my reports. I have some open days if you want to enjoy some good fishing.

FISHING REPORT
3/13/10 7:28 AM CST
Conditions: Cloudy Air Temp: 41° - 45° F Water Temp: Below 40° F
Fished at Lynxville yesterday. Tough bite. The river went up almost 2 feet since Monday. Yesterday they had all the roller gates down and a ton of ice was coming over the dam. About mid morning they raised 3 of the gates and left 2 down. Still plenty of ice coming through. You could still fish, but the bite was way off. I ended up catching one nice fish in the 5 pound class. There were about 15 - 20 boats out, noticed a few fish caught but not many.

The river is forecasted to raise almost 6 feet by next Saturday so things will be changing drastically!

Conditions: Sunny Air Temp: 36° - 40° F Water Temp: Below 40° F
Got out for the first open water trip yesterday at Lynxville. The ice went out on Thursday. Word travels fast as there had to be over 40 boats out there enjoying the beautiful late winter day. The bite was pretty good. Mostly sauger for me, with a few walleyes mixed in. Brought home 5 nice eater sized fish. Hair jigs with a minnow was the deal for me. A first for me was catching a nice trout. This fish hit in 20 fow on a 3/8 oz. hair jig! Quite a surprise! Overall it was a great day to be out on the water. The stable weather predicted in the next week should allow somemore great fishing opportunities.

Thanks for reading my reports.

FISHING REPORT
11/28/09 5:51 PM CST
Conditions: Sunny Air Temp: 51° - 55° F Water Temp: 40° - 45° F
Fishing was tough for us today. Only caught around 15-20 fish total today. All saugers except for one nice walleye my buddy caught. (photo attached) Had 2 keeper saugers, biggest being a nice, fat 18 incher. The bite was very light, in fact I don't think I would have caught hardly any of the fish if I didn't have a stinger/trailer hook on. But what a day to be out! Fished without gloves on almost all day. For the end of November it is hard to believe. Just checked the forecast, and it looks like it will be awhile before we get another day as nice as today!

Don't forget about my holiday gift certificate promotion I am running until XMAS. These certificates are for 20% off my regular guide rates for a 1/2 day, or a full day trip. These can be used for a year after purchase. Treat the fisherman in your life with a present they can really enjoy! Contact me for more info or questions.

Thanks for reading my reports, and if I can be of help, don't hesitate to give my a shout. Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving!

FISHING REPORT
11/22/09 5:06 PM CST
Conditions: Cloudy Air Temp: 51° - 55° F Water Temp: 40° - 45° F
We quit deer hunting several years ago and have made it a yearly event to fish opening weekend of deer season. My buddy and I fished the last two days out of PDC and did pretty good. Over the two days we caught about 70-80 fish total, the majority being saugers. We kept a couple of limits of nice eater size fish, with the biggest around 19 inches. Also caught 3 nice smallmouths. All were caught vertical jigging or casting jigs tipped with soft plastics.

The water temp is still at 45 degrees. That's pretty warm for this time of year! Unless we get some very cold weather in the next week, we should still be fishing walleyes into December. Big Smile

I am offering my holiday gift certificates again this year. These make good Xmas presents for the fisherman in your life. Both 1/2 and full day trips are 20% off regular rates, and they can be used for a year after purchase, for either Mississippi River or Wisconsin River trips. Just contact me for more info.

Hope you all have good luck hunting or fishing, and have a good Thanksgiving holiday!

FISHING REPORT
8/27/09 7:24 PM CST
On Tues, the 18th my son and 2 buddies fished near PdC. They started catching bass so decided to bass fish. (not a good idea with 3 guys in boat). My son got hooked in the eye, needed emergency surgery and has had to miss a couple weeks work. He can see, blurry, but improving. The main concern once dr. knew vision was ok was threat of infection. He is getting beyond the worry of that now. The fun day of fishing was quite a scare for them. Anyway, all is improving and they did catch quite a few bass.

Last winter I attended the Grant County Sport Alliance swap meet and sport show in Lancaster and donated a 1/2 day guide trip as a door prize. The winner was a 3 year old boy, and today was the day of the trip! I went looking for something easy for him to catch and found a big bunch of sheephead that were hungry up at the dam. I asked his Dad if they would work, and he said, sure. So we headed up to the dam and Aidan and his Dad started pulling them in! What a blast watching that little guy reel them in! We then went hunting some bluegills, but no luck. Did fish a few wingdams and caught a few smallmouth and largemouths on jigs.

Friday afternoon while looking for these fish, we came across a few "bonus" carp. What a fight on light spinning rods!! Oh, they were caught vertical jigging blade baits off the bottom in about 15 FOW.

pictured are a photo of Aidan and his dad, Aaron. Thanks for a fun day!

Took some photos of a couple of those big old carp also. Big Smile

FISHING REPORT

We went out by Harpers Ferry. This Morning was cool, about 60 when we got there and the water temp was between 67 and 70 deg. The water is running abut 7.5'. Harpers slew was about 67 deg. The back waters were about 69 deg. I caught a 17" walleye right away in the back waters. Then it slowed down. There were a few mayflies comming out. I don't know if they're just starting or just ending. The parking lot was clean but a few trees had mayflies hanging from them. After 10:00 am, I found some warmer slack water around 70 deg and caught a few fish. We were trolling and picked up a couple northern around 28" and a sauger about 15". We did catch a few small bass in the area too. Anything firetiger was the ticket today.

Got out on the upper part of Pool 10 the last couple of days. The river continues to drop at a pretty fast clip. It has went down over 2 feet in the last week and is forecasted to drop another foot by next Saturday. Water temps have risen into the mid 50's. Clarity is stained.

There were a lot of anglers out today. Falling Rock had their spring event today. Lots of folks fishing the dam area. Can't blame them. The last few days have been a treat. I had a chance to take my 6 year old grandson out for his first trip of the season. We stayed together in my camper at Lynxville and spent the day soaking worms and minnows! We caught a mixed bag of largemouth, bullheads, sheepshead and redhorse. The fishing on the float was fast and furious. There was somebody catching a fish almost every time I look over there. I've attached a photo of my grandson with one of many largemouths we caught.

The bass fishing is starting to pick up. I look forward to the next few weeks prior to the spawn. This is the time to catch some big sacks as well as some hawgs. Big Smile

Take a kid fishing!

FISHING REPORT

Conditions: Sunny Air Temp: 51° - 55° F Water Temp: 40° - 45° F
Fished below the Lynxville dam today from daylight to about 2 pm. Very slow bite.

River conditions: Water temp. 43 - 44 degrees. Stained. (not muddy, but pretty dark) Floating debris not a problem. All the gates are open and the river is free flowing. Current is strong, making the river fish very small. It is falling, several inches per day. This fact always seems to negatively affect the bite, in my opinion.

Quite a few guys fishing the wall for perch. I saw very few caught. Did see quite a few bullheads coming in. Walleyes were very spotty, but those caught were some pretty decent ones.

Stable weather the next few days should help get the fish going again. The water temps should increase by the end of the week.

Give me a shout if I can be of help.

Good fishing!
