Well, hit the M.C. Pier again this am. 1st line in at 5am. Glow spoons, reg.spoons, spinners, stick baits, skein & again, nothing to show for it. Another guy showed up around 6ish he caught a nice steelie right next to me by stairs. He actually had one come up and take his bobber down. Hit the bobber after hitting shrimp. That was wild to see. Helped him land the other steelhead he caught. Nice fish! Conditions were perfect today, except there was no breeze. I have never seen the lake that calm. Looked like a big pond of glass! They were jumping all around, mostly steelheads. I think some smallies as well, but no takers. May have to try fishing off of rocks in Portage in the next couple of days. Depends on how much wind we get. Maybe all the rain will be pretty good. Starting to wind down it feels like. Terrible run this fall. I personally don't think it even got going this fall. Still feel like there will be fish to be had. Weird. Anyway, good luck to all!!!

Wow!! Shoulda stayed home!! Didn't go out Saturday due to weather. Shoulda stayed home sunday, due to weather! Fished by stairs at pier this am. Got there at 5am. 4 other guys fished all the way down on opposite side by rocks. Perch fishing? Or steelhead? Anyway, all that wind yesterday churned up the lake pretty good. Once sun came up I could see why no bites. The water looks like chocolate! Drove over by DNR 2guys there wasting there time, nothing. And that damn barge or work boat is parked across from DNR where I used ro fish and due pretty good, that doesn't help! I talked to some people up in Manistee in Michigan and its still shotty up there. Real late! I know that's why it's slow here. Water starting to cool off. Saw video of the fish in at Milwaukee harbor. They seem to be like clockwork overthrew every year. I might try East Chicago sometime this week. Haven't fished there in a few years. Caught some nice steelies overthere in past. Some cohos. Never any kings though. Gotta find em' somewhere. I've only caught one damn king so far this year. UGH!! I have no desire to fish the creeks anymore either. O well, keep on keeping on I guess.

I feel your pain Renn. Was up ther last weekend with no results. Sounds similar to your experience. Got there early, 1st line in water at 3:45am. Could here me' jumping. At 1st light, saw about 10 of em'. Wouldn't hit anything I threw at em'. Even had skein under afloat. Keep at it is all I can say. I'll try this weekend. This is the kind of weather we need. I think it's gonna be fast this year. Weird!! Good luck. Will post how it went.

2 Wednesdays in a row and NOTHING!!!

Sept. 24th, me and 2 other buddies try for 3 hrs off of the MC pier casting spoons and didn't even see a fish!!!

The one buddy went back Sat. the 27th and was skunked...

Oct. 1, I just got back from MC pier. Started at 5:30 pm casting by myself. Left at 8:45 pm. NO HITS, NO BITES... NOTHING!!! 4 other people out there and nothing to show for it the whole time. I saw only 3-4 fish jump, but they are not hitting anything...

What the heck is going on??? It is soooo late in the season, the run should be winding down, not starting!?!?!?!

Heck if I know...

Sad Sad Sad Sad

Said catching at night by DNR on ThunderStick type baits. Will try weds night after work. Gotta work out there til 7pm. Hopefully it cools off soon, heard it might rain tonight, might help. Keeps up like this and we may have to wait 2 or more weeks!! Got the fever, just not picking up here yet. Got a King 1st weekend in Sept. in Ludington, Michigan but that's it. Hopefully here soon, good luck to all. Tight lines!!!

Went out this past weekend (sun). Wind was really blowing. Didn't even attempt main pier. Fished by Dnr for a few hours. No one caught fish. Went out week prior on Monday and started fishing at 3am off of main pier. Cloudy, little rain. Conditions appeared perfect! 0 caught. Had 1 steelhead on for a second or so. DNR surveyor told me 6 Kings were caught Sunday night by the DNR. Went by DNR at about 1pm on this day and saw a handful of Cohos jumping all around, but couldn't get em' to bite. Looked really chrome. Just got in system? Lock jaw? Stayed til 4:30 pm nothing. Talking to a guy this past Sunday by DNR and he said he was there Tuesday and caught a 32" coho. I think he meant king. But what ever, he got one!! Can't get up there this week due to work. I bet it starts getting really good this week. Off Monday and tues next week. Will hit it hard again. Should be in a little more consistently by then. Fished Ludington Michigan 1st week of September and caught 1 King off the pier. Lost on in the river (Pere Marquette). Late run up there this year. Probably late here as well. Good luck, and tight lines to all.

Well guys, wish I had a good report for you tonight, but I got skunked. Got to the pier at 5pm and cast Spoons and large crank baits until my arms fell off around 8:30pm. Wind was out of the northeast about 5-10mph and waves were crashing hard on the east side of the pier. No one on the pier, (about 5-8 guys), was doing or seeing any fish at all. It was a shame too... it was a great night to cast off the pier, too bad the fish were elsewhere!!! Tight lines!!

Well lets put it this way, if you are ever looking for a report about Indiana, forget it. Never will it be there when you want it nor will it be on time or even about the fish you want. The folks in Indiana think they are the only people in the world that can fish and so do not want anyone fishing in Indiana that dont belong there! To make a long story shorter....Don't look her for any advice for fishing.....EVER! Sad

Hi archer3684,

When did you guys catch those steelheads?

During Summer (after June) or just recently?

I'm planning to go to trail creek to check if there's any steelheads swimming up already.

Thanks!

Try fishing Creek Ridge county park. My son and I were at route 20 just south of 20 on Trail Creek. He caught his first steelhead there and I have hooked 2 at Creek ridge county park. They are running up and down the stream in the deeper pools. Try Spawn sacs, worms or shrimp. My oldest son and I are going to the pier tomorrow morning weather permitting. Smile
