There is a launch at a park on the eastside bay turn at the mobil station on rt176. You will also need a village lake sticker for your boat $15.00 you can get them at the village hall. I belive it has motor restriction of 9.9hp or less

Thanks UF. What time does the derby end? Can you keep any of the pan fish. Looking for just a few for a meal.

Island Lakes Derby Starts at 7:00am. In the park off of East way. Smitty's Bait and Tackle will be there at 6:00am to sell bait. Many prizes and raffles. Awards will be given out at 3-D bowling alley after the Derby. Come out catch some fish and have some fun! Have been recent reports of folks catching nice Bluegill, Crappie, and the ever so sweet Yellow bass.

Can someone post any information about the Lion Club derby here this weekend. I never fished this lake and was thinking about giving it a try.

Thanks

FISHING REPORT
1/3/12 8:01 PM CST
Ice Depth: 1"
I was out on Island Lake for 30 minutes or so today. Didn't catch anything, but I didn't wander out too far either. The ice was kind of sketchy. It's probably somewhere between 1 and 2 inches. I'm calling it 1" on the report because I don't know that I'd call it "safe" to be out there. Tomorrow it'll probably be a little bit better, but I won't be able to get out again until the weekend. All the ice will probably be gone by then.

I was at Forest Park. It's on Forest Drive in between Locust and Oakwood Avenue. Take Eastwood Avenue from 176 to get there.

I didn't see any fish or catch anything, but I didn't stick around long at all. I didn't feel like taking a swim.

The ice depth was probably about the same here as it was out behind Hermann's Bar on Nielsen's Channels. I stopped there first as some guys were heading out behind the bar and drilling their first holes.

FISHING REPORT

I was out yesterday afternoon fishing from shore. Caught a ton of bluegills. 30 or so in the 8 inch range and another 30-50 smaller than that. They were biting within 15 seconds of casting out there. I was using wax worms on an ice fishing jig under a bobber. It was my first time fishing this lake. I'm going to give it a go during ice fishing season.
