Are there even any perch left out of Waukegan anymore??? I feel like I used to see packs of boats out there all the time including last year, and this year I havent seen anyone. All salmon fisherman. And I havent heard of any reports. Are people just keeing their mouths shut about it or are the perch gone?

Bait shop has moved to southwest side of building, same side as toll gate for launch I thought same thing ,would be helpful if they hung a sign on old door .

Drove down to the pier yesterday around noon. Water was pretty murky around the pier. I went to the bait shop in the white building (closest to the launch ramp) and it looked empty. The other bait shop by the ice cream stand was closed. I took it as a sign and went to an inland lake. Anyone know whats going on with the bait shop down there?

Anyways, I won't go back until we have some steady west winds. Or, if I've got $75-$100 and stand by the launch with a sign and a bucket full of minnows, "no boat, need fish!! $75 help with gas" lmao! Im sure I would find someone willing to make room. Tight lines out there.

You can. Best chance when there are west winds for at least a full day or more. Circulates the water with warmer surface water going out, bait fish come in shallower followed by the salmon.

I did go out Friday. Fish (by myself) from 6:45am until about 11am with only 7 perch to show for it. Very slow day. There were some nice schools down there but they sure weren't hitting very well. Next time I go I'm going to try some of those perch flys I've been hearing about. Anyone have any luck with them? Seemed pretty slow for everyone though I did notice one boat that seemed to do better; they were anchored and just letting their rods sit in the rod holders. Very slow approach but it seemed to be working a little better anyway. I heard that a couple charter boats may have done better prior to 6am. Wierd spring! Smile

Been trying to log onto chicagolandfishing.com for the last three days. So far I've been unsuccessful, never had a problem before. Has anybody else having a problem, is it just me, or has the web site just been taken down??
