Will be out there tomorrow at 3:30 am for some crappie
Out on Channel Lake trying to look for walleye and all I could find were really aggressive tiny perch and yellow bass. Got one 14" crappie which was a nice surprise.
Found some hard bottom in 10 - 15fow within 300ft of Thirsty Turtle and some deeper holes further north. Tried Musky Tales the next day same thing. I had tipups set and a jigging rod with fatheads hole hopping. Tungsten Jigs in glow and fire tiger tipped with fatheads and jigging spoons.
Can't seem to find any walleye on Channel after going out 4 days in a row. Everyone I talked to was on dinky gills and bass.
Definitely not the same lake I remember from 10 years ago.
Anything I'm missing these days?
you can get on from choppers a bar on 173 crowded on weekends and you must walk across the road or under the bridge in the rear of the place, have never walked under the bridge from here have been thru there on my 4 wheeler, I caught fish today early and late not so much middle of the day.
fishing is good ice was ok every where I checked didn't find anything under 6 but the cold had me hunggered down more than I liked, ice is allways dangerous lakes has been poping and cracking last few days (saw where thier is open water in camp lake wisconsin in places mid lake anyway that lake is a mile or two due north of channel and feeds channel )
was out there yesterday had 3 maybe 4 inches of ice 4 maybe 5 inches of frozen snow over that going over to slush after I drilled ice would bow and water came up on ice where the snow was blown off the ice it was no more than 5 in the area I was fishing no ideal how much ice south end.
