I would say no the weeds are not there between choppers and Turtle didn't see any when i was out in mid November (open water) water level was dropped drastically..................didn't mark any fish suspended in the whole south bay either (had to get to the main deep part)

Have the weeds grown back where the old nursery use to be? Between chopper and turtle?

I went down to RedHead on the east side, and there was maybe 1/2"-3/4" of ice. I wouldn't risk it...

Hey FISH-N-HNT. I was thinking about going up tomorrow. I am gonna make some calls today to be sure so I don't waste the drive. Have you done any good in that area? Weren't too many reports last year. I'll post what I find out.

At the present time there is no safe ice on the south end of Channel Lake. I check regularly while walking my dog.

FISHING REPORT
8/17/14 8:03 PM CST
Conditions: Partly Sunny Air Temp: 71° - 75° F Water Temp: 71° - 75° F
Fished a few spots on Channel today, caught a few crappie, 1 short walleye 13" and another pushing 26". I also caught a nice size catfish on my crappie pole, what a fight. I kept a few crappie everything else was released, I was fishing in 8 to 12' pitching 1/4 oz jigs with extra large fatheads.

Conditions: Sunny Water Temp: 66° - 70° F
Fished Sunday with a friend and caught a bunch of crappies, biggest was just shy of 13", everything was in 4' or less of water. We were using a gill catcher hook with 2 very small Burkley minnows attached to the hook, with a slip bobber.
