FISHING REPORT
1/6/11 10:30 AM CST
Ice Depth: 12" Conditions: Cloudy
Fished 10 AM - 6 PM. The bite started slow. Moved around a little didn't mark many fish. Caught a few perch in the 5 - inch range in 14 - 17 FOW. Picked up and moved around 3. Started marking schools of fish in 20 - 24 FOW, and had no trouble getting them to bite.. The bluegills were mostly of the 5 - 7 inch variety with a few 8 inchers scattered in. The Crappies were the majority of the fish caught. mostly 6 - 8 inches, with a few around 10 or 11". Our group of 4 caught easily over 100 fish.. We kept enough for a meal or 2. Bait size, style or color didn't seem to matter much if you were on fish, but darker color horizontal type jigs with plastics was the most effective on crappies. Doubles were common and the fishing was fast paced at times, pulling fish as fast as you could get back down. The size was somewhat frustrating though, and at times we'd just change jigs because we got tired of catching fish, and in effort to find something to coax the bigger fish. We had out 3 tip-up baited with treated minnows and leeches. No flags.

Has anyone been catching anything the past week.Last weekend slow to no bite.Hope its changed for this weekend, getting close to ice out after weekend. Looking forward to slaying the pannies and having a good time on ice for the last weekend.Going to try roadbed and A-frame. Has anyone fished the dam?Just wondering why you never see anyone fishing there.Used to see guys fishing close to bank, for northeren.Would think pannies should be there, alot of rocks on bottom for structure. Peace out & tight lines Cool

It's still a little slow. Plenty of fish but a shy bite. The smaller fish seem to be most active. It's gotta pick up any time now. I've been doing some searching for active fish. There has been fish everywhere I've looked. They seem very scattered. Lots of small perch in the 3" - 6" range.

Was on the road bed Thursday afternoon on the south side. Marked a ton of fish on the cribs. Very slow panfish bite, but did manage to catch some catfish in the 20" - 22" range. A blast on 2# test line. It made up for the lack of panfish.
