Got one nice crappie almost 11", a perch and about 8 other smaller panfish. Caught and released one largemouth bass about 11". Ice was good near Beach 2, but still open water by Beach 1 and near Tamarack Bay.

I know Lake Summerset is a gated community, but drive by the place frequently and looks like a nice lake to fish. Is there any way for someone to just get access to the lake for fishing purposes?

I'm thinking it might be safe by mid-Sunday, but don't quote me. No changes to the rules. Remember, bass season closed Jan. 1 until mid-June.

There are a bazillion articles why people should NOT fish for muskies in the summer. But they do it anyway!!!! This one was 45-inches Angry

Horse, she does not need to be with you. If you are not a certified resident you can still fish alone during daylight hours with a $5 pass. Go to the office and they can tell you the rules.

Thanks everyone for their responses. I will compile them. PLEASE, everyone give me your opinions. Just got off the lake and seems like the panfish are afraid of the lure (watching on the Vexilar). Got a nice catfish on a tipup with an old chunk of fish on it from the freezer. Never got a panfish bite. Yea, some folks want a clean bathub look. As far as bow fishing, there are opportunities to bow fish and the club pays $2 per fish. Just cut the dorsel fin off and throw the rest in the trash. Of course we will have to get the special permission slip from the office and a gate pass from a friend of course. Stay tuned.

yes the lake needs weeds. But I herd a guy brag that he and some other guys were killing the weeds them selfs at night and doing the hole lake!! They are that welthy.I had a house there 10yrs ago, but built out in the country.I'm now back and live there at my girlfriends house.I'd love to go fishing but she has to be with me. thats tough when she's at work. I'm off work do to a injury. It kills me to look out her window and see a lake I cant fish. I have all the stuff to go ice fishing. Cant put my boats in there in the summer because there just to big. I do good in the pec river for walleye!! I should be a guid there.$$

I've been out a handfull of times this winter and am not impressed w/ panfish size. I'm going out today and am going to keep only panfish which are 8" or bigger. From what Ive seen; a 9" crappie is quite elussive. Ive fished here since about 1985. We thru back any crappie under 10" back in the day. That was when the natural weeds where here. All the fishing was fantastic. As usual; I'm probably wrong but it seems to all come back to the weed kill. With luck; Im hopeing to score some crappies today for the pan. It hardly seems worth the effort to fillet 4 to 7" fish. I will report when I get back in. One question for ls club; who pays the "pro" carpers? is this lake open to bowfishing? that might knock out a few before or after you professionally remove some.me and a friend of mine cleared out at least 30 carp in a 25x25 yard chunk of river. and that was in 30 minutes or so. just a thought for your lake.
