Is the ice holding up hoping to get out there if it's safe
Lake Summerset, Winnebago County
Was out the last few days. Got gills and couple Crappie on Tuesday. There was lots of water on the ice that day.
Wednesday.... I was out with my dad and the day started out slow but after a move it was game on. We got nice mix of big gills and Crappie. Still big puddles on the lake but not as bad as Tuesday.
Went back out today with a buddy of mine to really target the Crappie. We both had our limits before 2. We had 43 big Crappie and 7 big Gills. Most crappie were over 11 inches and the gills were around 9 inches.
Ice condition was actually a little better this morning. All the water on the ice had refroze over night last night. The shorelines for the most part were fine as well. Seen two separate ATVs traveling on the ice as well.
I would think the ice should be fine for the next couple days. My only concern would be where old AUGER holes might have got a bit bigger.
As always stay alert and be safe.......F.P.

Was out on Wednesday and it was a steady bite of crappie, gills and perch. Kept crappie 10-12 inches and Gills 8.5 to 10 inches. Perch were all small.
My buddy pulled up a nice 17 inch Walleye right before dark.
Ice was at least 12 inches where we were fishing......F.P.

Was out yesterday caught panfish all throughout the day. Released a couple gills that were pushing 10in. Towards the end of the day found a school of crappie got fun for awhile released most of them. Also got one undersized walleye and a few dink perch. My advice would be stay away from any groups of people and stay moving to find the most active fish
Thanks a Million Jeff!
Got any tips you'd like to share? My success has been marginal, at best, so far this season. Seems like it's getting tougher to find the fish out there. Or the fish are just a whole lot more finicky than they used to be.
I live a little over an hour away and my in-laws(that don't fish), told me the other day, that the ice was covered with water and that there's open water all around the shorelines. Due to the past warm weather and/or rain that they had. They live close to the west end and I'm hoping it's ONLY the west end where conditions aren't favorable for some ice fishing.
Any help would be truly appreciated!
Thanks In Advance!

My daughter and i went out this afternoon and poked a couple holes by the rock pile. She got her first fish through the ice, very exciting, we got a few small gills and 2 bass one was 16 the other 14.
Didnt see many people out braving the cold. Hoping for a little warmer weather tomorrow
guests can without the lot owner with an amenity pass and pay 5 dollars at the gate for a fishing pass. Lot owner does need to be within talking distance to fish at night. Make sure to check the back of the fishing pass for the regulations for guests because they are different
