This is aa letter I wrote to the LSS fish club. Please see the bulletin they have on their website. I think they should crack down on anyone getting in and doing what they want, but not let it affect family members. Sorry for posting a long letter, but I think people should get envolved.. . In response to the bulletin about guest fishing, I am not a member or land owner, but my father is and has been for 30 years. He has also been a volunteer security officer (many years ago). I have pretty munch spent most of my weekends out there visiting , fishing, boating, and swimming at the pool with my family. I have seen over the years this, once beautiful, place deteriorate because of "anyone" being allowed to run around with the same freedoms as a land owner, but with out the same respect to the lake as a land owner. I have even asked people how they got in and some say they are working on a house or they called them selves in. I don't feel I have much to say or do about this as much as my father does, but some day in the near future I hope to own some land or a house at the lake, and if I do, I would like to see some changes made about guest privileges. I have spent many of mornings, when I wanted to fish, picking up trash of the dam and around some of the parks where you can fish. That aggravates me the most. There was also another time when we were sitting down at the beach and a little boy was in the water and yelled at his mom that he needed to go to the restroom and she told him in front of everyone to just pull his shorts down in the water and go. I was furious. My 8 year old daughter was swimming right by him. I asked the lady if she lived there and she said no, and was offended by me telling her the restrooms were right at the club house. She did not know if I was a member or not. Allot of nonmembers disrespect the lake all the time. There has been plenty of mornings from 5am till 10am when nonmembers and sometimes members are going full throttle across the lake at early morning hours and I have been with my father when he confronts them about the no wake rule and they say they did not know about the rule. Come on! If your a member that likes to boat or fish, shouldn't you know about this rule. Like I said before, I can't speak out for my father, but I don't want the one and only thing I enjoy doing with my father be destroyed because of guest ruining it for the rest of us. I do like how hard the security people work, and I have got to know a few over the years. I know they put in allot of hours and can't be there all the time. Maybe you should bring back the volunteers again. I also like what the fish club has done with restocking and putting environmentally safe fish cribs out in the lake. I always buy a fishing permit to help this get done and we all know its not cheap. It aggravates me to death to see people out there poaching and not having a fishing permit either. Last year this guy was bragging that he caught a 10lbs bass ,which I have yet to catch my self out there or see, so I asked him what he did with it and he said it was in his cooler, so I asked if I could see it and sure enough it was huge. The guy had no fishing permit and was not with a land owner. Even though this guy caught a legal size fish, does he still have a right to keep it? I don't think so myself. Sorry for all the gripe, but I just don't want this beautiful place to get ruined. I think there should be tuffer rules for guest that are not extended family members, and let the extended family members enjoy visiting the lake, because that's what the land owners pay for. Thank you for your time.
