Sounds to me as though this new proposal is meant to keep people out. All because of very selfish reasons. Lake Summerset is an asset. If manged proporly it could generate large revenue and many nice fish, too . I, as a guest, would pay good $ to use the lake & its facilities like beach & pool. $500 is a small price to pay to be able to catch nice fish and have fun with the kids. In the same respect it couldn't be invatation only, it would be a buy in 1 year at a time. As far as a guest causing problems with minnows and trash, I have fished Summerset over 30 times this year and often picked up the little trash that there was. I was never checked by the lake patrol or the dnr. In fact, I have only been checked 3 times in 15 years perhaps the buy in people could pay all lot dues or create lots of $ for other projects in the lake. 100 people buying in could create $50,000.00 plus concessions and more. This would help fix the roads ,stock the lake add beaches or pools maybe even pay for a lake patrol that would stop people from doing the bad or pay large fines. And that would be more $ for the lake & its people

just a thought but it makes sense!

Was out with the Lake Planning commitee this morning doing some water analysis. Still more than a foot of ice way down on the west end where the water is only 6 feet deep. From what my feedback has shown, 90% of the folks responding to the rules change are not concerned about people breaking the rules as much as the principle of the matter about having to pay $580 in dues for the priveledge of having a gated fishing community vs. someone paying $50 for the annual pass for the same fishing rights. Would a guest be willing to pay $500? Don't know. Worried

For here, fishyfishy it's do as I say and not as I do. That post of him admitting to staying out past hours should and will be brought to the attention of the Association for further review. Angry

FISHING REPORT

Fishy fishy; the rules are the rules. did your dad get assessed the fine? This change was well thought out by some of our most dedicated ls fishermen at Lake summerset. Did a security officer inform you what time it was? If they did and no fine was given; that ociffer should loose their job. Pay the fine anyway; you'll feel good. turn yourself in. I think its only a thosand dollars or so. We could use the stocking fund doe. I was out last night at the road bed and got skunked; using waxies and minnows. Stayed out till 10 pm cause I can-----------------------------H

I find you people to be funny that are bashing me for my post. Im tryin to voice an opinion to the LS fishing club, cause thats what they wanted from people. They didn't have a problem with it, and actually was happy and agreed with me. Are you people even land owners out there? It cracks me up that I got this kind of responce. Good fishing to all, and really hope to see you out there. Go to lsfishclub.org to see what I was talkin about. And come to the next meeting.

I dont want to start an argument but you are complaining about people breaking the rules, and then in your previous post you talked about how you were breaking the rules. It doesnt matter what rules you think are acceptable to break and which ones you think are not. If your going to complain about people breaking rules and not showing respect then you should respect the rules that have been made. Hypocryte I believe is what you are. Mops

FISHING REPORT
2/12/09 10:31 PM CST
Conditions: Cloudy Air Temp: 46° - 50° F
Drove by Beach 2 a few days ago - one tent on a lake with more water on the ice than snow. Did not see much action. Perhaps it's been forgotten, but the reason guests have to be with a member at night is that the fish club guys went to the board with that recommendation. Seemed the guys thought that unattended guests were taking buckets of fish out of the lake at night, and suggested thast fewer would fish would be taken if the member had to leave the warm house to sit with the guest. Here Fishy Fishy says that club members now want to ask the board to change that? Bet those board members will be thrilled.

My responce to here, fishyfishy. You sound like someone how is more worried about what others do instead of fishing. Everybody I come across is polite and very conscious about litter or harming your lake. And I'm sure there are bad people that don't care what they do. So you should lynch them instead of everybody. It sound like to me that you are complaining more about the Worden not doing his job, if so, go straight to them and tell them your frustration. Or possibly you need to get professional help as medication will help this problem you are having with everybody. Wondering

Great Letter! Can't say it better than that. BTW, it takes over 10 YEARS for a bass to grow that big. What a shame. Think of how many real fisherman have caught and released it in that time. I was on the ice last night and found a small pile of minnows (3-4) next to some cigarette butts. I was going to take a picture but it was getting dark and i couldn't find the spot again.

This is aa letter I wrote to the LSS fish club. Please see the bulletin they have on their website. I think they should crack down on anyone getting in and doing what they want, but not let it affect family members. Sorry for posting a long letter, but I think people should get envolved.. . In response to the bulletin about guest fishing, I am not a member or land owner, but my father is and has been for 30 years. He has also been a volunteer security officer (many years ago). I have pretty munch spent most of my weekends out there visiting , fishing, boating, and swimming at the pool with my family. I have seen over the years this, once beautiful, place deteriorate because of "anyone" being allowed to run around with the same freedoms as a land owner, but with out the same respect to the lake as a land owner. I have even asked people how they got in and some say they are working on a house or they called them selves in. I don't feel I have much to say or do about this as much as my father does, but some day in the near future I hope to own some land or a house at the lake, and if I do, I would like to see some changes made about guest privileges. I have spent many of mornings, when I wanted to fish, picking up trash of the dam and around some of the parks where you can fish. That aggravates me the most. There was also another time when we were sitting down at the beach and a little boy was in the water and yelled at his mom that he needed to go to the restroom and she told him in front of everyone to just pull his shorts down in the water and go. I was furious. My 8 year old daughter was swimming right by him. I asked the lady if she lived there and she said no, and was offended by me telling her the restrooms were right at the club house. She did not know if I was a member or not. Allot of nonmembers disrespect the lake all the time. There has been plenty of mornings from 5am till 10am when nonmembers and sometimes members are going full throttle across the lake at early morning hours and I have been with my father when he confronts them about the no wake rule and they say they did not know about the rule. Come on! If your a member that likes to boat or fish, shouldn't you know about this rule. Like I said before, I can't speak out for my father, but I don't want the one and only thing I enjoy doing with my father be destroyed because of guest ruining it for the rest of us. I do like how hard the security people work, and I have got to know a few over the years. I know they put in allot of hours and can't be there all the time. Maybe you should bring back the volunteers again. I also like what the fish club has done with restocking and putting environmentally safe fish cribs out in the lake. I always buy a fishing permit to help this get done and we all know its not cheap. It aggravates me to death to see people out there poaching and not having a fishing permit either. Last year this guy was bragging that he caught a 10lbs bass ,which I have yet to catch my self out there or see, so I asked him what he did with it and he said it was in his cooler, so I asked if I could see it and sure enough it was huge. The guy had no fishing permit and was not with a land owner. Even though this guy caught a legal size fish, does he still have a right to keep it? I don't think so myself. Sorry for all the gripe, but I just don't want this beautiful place to get ruined. I think there should be tuffer rules for guest that are not extended family members, and let the extended family members enjoy visiting the lake, because that's what the land owners pay for. Thank you for your time.
