Sterling Lake, Lake County (all postings)

Water clarity is bad....6" at best....water level is 2ft above normal pool...early emergent weedgrowth is virtually non-existant. Surface temps steady today at 43 deg....coldest I've fished here during late April.........it will be awhile before things pick up here.

Visited this preserve this morning just to scout the proverbial intakes....lots of water coming in, at least a thousand gallons per minute. The walking trail has been breached by water near the north, and south ends of the north lake....roughly 14" of clearance at bridge.

I will be fishing sterling from my boat sometime within the next two weeks, not sure when though. But how do you guys catch walleye here this time of the year? Baits, spots, depths, etc.. not asking for honey holes and I don't have fancy electronics just skill but any pointers would be a big help and PM me if you want. I CPR only too. Good luck and tight lines guys!! Will post after fishing.

Shoosh there's no Muskies in here... Just bluegills and sunfish.

this lake is really clear and the muskys spook real easy. But there are some giants in here.

I live down the street from this lake been here only a couple times have never done any good was wondering if anyone had tips for muskey, pikes, or bass! I am fishing from shore. U can pm me if u dont want to write on here. Thanks

Lake County is not opening any of the 3 lakes for ice fishing this season due to the risk with fluctuating temperatures they do not want to risk it.

Drove by Sterling this morning, and the sign by the gate still says the ice is closed.

Does anyone know if the ice is safe for here yet? Wanting to go out here in the morning.

LCFPD hotline says they'll open up ice fishing when there is 4.5" of ice.

if im not mistaken they will not open for icefishing till there is 6 inches of ice from shore to shore but open water cuz of ducks may not open this year if it doesnt close up
