Got out again Thurs. from 3 til 10. Ice was in very good shape. With the warm weather yesterday there was very little slop on ice. With today being warmer it might get a little sloppy out there but agree with other post about maybe losing an inch before Sat. If you can make it out for the LVVA derby Sat. go. It is a lot of fun for a great cause. To the volunteers my hat off to you. Watched you guys getting ready Thurs. You do a great job. As for the fishing it was the same with gills and crappie hitting. Except for 1 crappie every fish caught on waxies. All fish swimming. Tight Lines Jim
My uncle called me this morning bragging about all the gills he got into 150 feet straight off the end of where Lindy's docks would be just yesterday. He said there was a good solid 8 inches with bottom starting to rot just a tad. With no rain in forcast he predicted no issues with ice on Saterday at most an inch less.. Also According to the LVVA facebook page I see good news.. https://www.facebook.com/LVVAiceFishing/ see the post from tuesday this week and the one from today that says "Derby is On 2018!" Tuesdays post says.. "The Derby is still on! The ice is holding. Please be aware that parking will, most likely be on side streets this year. We will direct you accordingly. Please respect our parking volunteers. We will get you out there. Be Patient. Try to Car-Pool. Show up a bit earlier than normal maybe. Gonna be fun!
Tight lines to everyone fishing for Vets, looking forward to tomorrow nights Chili cookoff as well..
Love all the talk about a $25 fee to fish... Stay away then. Pay the extra 20 and fish all winter in a shanty or better yet, stay away. Island has plenty spots for you guys.
Actually the 25 does cover the whole season. Extra 20 is for permanents.
