The place to go is under the bridge that is on the fox and anchor (right next to the high school). That is a great spot for catfish off the bottom. Also under the bridge that goes over the south side where the fox and illinois river come together is a good spot for walleye and sauger.

CONDITIONS
Cloudy

AIR TEMP
51° - 55° F

WATER TEMP
56° - 60° F
Fished in a white bass tournament on Saturday with about 50 boats. We caught only 2 fish and the top boat only caught 6. Mine were caught at the Marsielles locks on green jigs. Most of the guys did not catch anything. I talked to other guys and they said they were catching smallmouth. Water was muddy and strong current.

had a catfish tourney a couple weeks ago and only managed 1 fish in 7 hours. Winner had 33 lbs. Went out after the tourney for a couple hours and caught a bunch. That really sucked. Oh well.

fishe an hour yesterday just throwing a mepps comet minnow. Did not catch any at all. I did see a guy and talked a bit. While talking he pulled in a nice 18" sauger using a skirted jig and minnow. Nice fish.

Fished three hours midday today. Pulled leadcore with floating flourescent Rapalas behind. Caught two decent sauger on chartreuse and a bucket of leaf debris on both.

Great day to be out. Looks like we'll have a long, gradual Spring like they enjoy in southern Illinois. I'll take it. Coho are next.

I have some of best luck working channel edges, slacker water areas, run offs and sand bars. Mouth of the fox should come into mind.

My best rig for whitebass have been two. (1) Green Jeeg and meno. Jeeg is a walmart green head/white body with maribou tail. Like 6 for a dollar. 1/4 or 3/8 seems to work best. And (2) a zip blade in either silver or copper depending on conditions.

Lots of luck near the SR dam. Also, fly up the lil verm reever. Had my best day ever last year. Over 100 big fat feesh pitching that jeeg in 2-3 feet of water. Look for the some shore rock or point near mud.

I had 8 dozen menos, but more like 10 in the bucket. Used them all. Then started adding the dead ones on the bottom of the boat. Finally, just used the straight jeeg. All caught feesh.

Never used a tweester, but expect the results to work. Stick to the white color though.

not a report just some questions. For those of you that fish this area often, what is the key to catching striper. The big ones that I know are in here. Do you troll, cast spinners, divers live minnows or what. Wher exactly are they? I have heard they are around Allen Park. I have also heard that it is about time to go get them. Any tips would be great. Please, I am sick of all little fish or no fish at all. Thanks alot!
