How many of you have had guys get real close to you as they notice you are catching fish and start drilling holes so close to you you could spit on them. Happened to me more than once. Twice it was people that spoke no english. I call this "Skutniking" named after someone I work with who I took under my wing and taught him just about everything he knows. The name originated in open water when I was fishing down a weedline and I noticed a boat coming at me. I thought the guy would show the proper etiquette and go behind me where I have already fished, but instead he ignorantly went right in front of me within a short cast. As he was passing in front of me I noticed it was my co-worker. From then on every time I am encroached upon, I refer to it as being "Skutniked". So next time someone cuts in front of you in the boat or drills some holes 10 feet away, you've been "Skutniked" Wondering

Tried the bay today. First time decided to use small minnows instead of wax worms amd it worked for the firat hour from 8 till 9. Got four nice 10' crappies and that's stopped. Npthing after that.

I'm eager to try a new fishing spot, and I think Pistakee is the winner. From what I've been reading it sounds like most people park at Oak Park. Is there a fee for this lot (if so, about how much), and are there any other areas to access the lake from?

Thanks for any help

I ,while jigging, bounce the bait on the bottom two to five times and then lift the bait a inch or two and hold for about fifteen to twenty seconds, and then repeat. I use a small home made lead jigging s spoon. The idea is to stir up some mud or silt. Since no ones hand is perfectly steady when holding the bait off the bottom it still moves a little bit to help draw the fish in.

Borderman- Do you jig the bait or lay it on the bottom? The ones I have caught have been by jigging but Im thinking lay one bait one the bottom and see what happens. Might get a nice cat or carp also. Agreed on throwing them on the ice. A shame.

Was out 7:30 til 3:00 today, first tried the mud flat on north side of coon island....marked few fish. Headed to southwest side along shore line and picked up a few small gills. Shot across to the small bay for a little while with no fish. Set up at shanty town and picked up a few crappies and drum. Caught more drum than crappies.....took home five decent crappies. Crappies were aggressive when they did show up.....

tight lines.....Plumma Evil Grin

I usually get sheephead on spikes or cut bait. It is a shame that idiots are leaving them on the ice. One of the main foods that sheephead feed on are zebra muscles. Fish in the 10" to 14" range are good eating when filleted battered, breaded and deep fried. A lot of my friends say they taste better than stripers.

Today the bay seemed completely dead for everyone on the lake Sad Got tiny catfish and finger size striped bass. No signs of crappie.

Anyone have any thought on how to target drum? They seem to be everywhere by watching a fellow anglers camera. Have caught a couple and they put up a pretty good fight on 2lb line. Could turn a slow day into a decent one. Not after a meal, just a good tug on the line. You can see them littered all over the bay.

hey jeeprider the t-channel is pretty dead right now, my dad lives on it and we were back there a couple days ago and weren't even marking fish. usually the channel is only good at first ice and for a few weeks after then the fish typically move out to deeper water. hope this helps.
