3 small crappie and 1 sheepshead in 15 FOW on minnows. We fished from 1-5:30 around the corner from Oak Park Lounge. We watched several fish swim by on the aqua view including a huge school of sheepshead. Ice was a little thin in spots.
BEST WAY TO KNOW IS TO HEAD OUT!!!! if I was a betting man I'd say probably slow bite no bite, but the bar at home is stocked? But since I get out I'm sitting at oak park eating a pizza looking at a few crappie we caught and discussing our strippers then heading back out there like a couple of lizards. Because ice time only comes for a short time. Tight lines at 6-7" ice. In 17-20fow with cigarette butts as bait

Went out from the lounge today 12-15 fow. Fish were off today... 3 gills 2 crappie 1 catfish. No great size.
Fished from 730 to 12. Ice was good but a couple wet spots to avoid. Anywhere from 4-6 inches of ice everywhere I checked.
Anyone going out tomorrow morning?? I'm looking to go in the morning but I've only fished this a couple times and want to make sure I'm not alone. I would guess the ice should freeze up enough tonight.
I usually park at the bar. Is there anywhere else to park??

I was on Pistakee Bay today and the ice is going bad FAST !
I started on 7" + or - of ice, but it was getting honeycombed quickly. My auger would cut the ice like soft cheese and then push up slush, not shavings...
Visited south Pistakee Bay and the ice is even worse. I sat on 5" of ice and watched it shrink down to 4" in a couple of hours.
Before I left, I jumped up and down a few feet from my holes and watched the water slosh around !
Standing water everywhere and huge "spider holes" are forming that are 5' to 10' in diameter. Ice looks real spooky...
I wouldn't step foot on that ice tomorrow.
Finally, I did measure the ice depth and did not "eyeball" it.

Rough morning out off oak lounge, 2 decent crappie and tons of cookie cutter whites.. I lost 2 rods on my way out. If anyone has them I'll but you a case of your choice. The Fenwick is special and the Abu is my son's. Doubt anyone will turn them back over. Talk about rough day
I'll keep the sheephead for a family member who eats them but in this case my buddy took them. I wouldn't know how they taste but I was talking to a guy who said as long as you do it right, you'd never know the difference from walleye. I'll only keep panfish and walleye.
Ice should still be ok but just be more cautious. I was fine Saturday and temps weren't that high today to really damage anything.
One legal walleye was kept...I'll be sure to post the photo's of my fish on my ruler next time. *sarcasm*

Took my buddy out for the first time and got into a mixed bag of fish in 12-16fow. I let him keep the fish to experience the joy of cleaning all of them except for my walleye. Good group of guys out today and fish were biting.

Fished with Jeff from 0700-2pm. Fished the bay in 13ft of water. Got about a dozen crappies, only 3 keepers. Catfish were on fire, couldn't keep them off the hooks. We also got our share of sheepshead as well. Got 2 walleye, one 19incher (released) and a 15 inch lost at hole.. All fish caught on northland forage minnow spoons, 1/32 ounce silver with spikes or waxies.
We moved to 20 ft of water and the stripers were biting. Everyone was catching them. Same baits as above, just deeper water. Mixed sizes of fish but a lot of big ones. Great day of fishing. Merry Christmas to all!!!
