Fished from 6am to 2pm. Launch out of Barto's landing. Fished from there up to the dam running and gunning. Picked up 12 keeper and many short sauger at the dam. TONS of sheeps , asian's , buffalo's , and cats. Only caught a few whites. Nice day on the water once it warmed up.

Got out today from 7:30am-2pm, to put it lightly, I got smoked! Bite is VERY tough, I jigged and trolled and wound up loosing 1 Sauger and catching 2 sheephead and 3 catfish (jigging). The water is real muddy, the dam is open and letting water through. Fished Starved Rock and Bartow Landing and also 39 bridge. there were not many nets hitting the water, seemed to be tough going for about everyone. The Peru Flats had alot of boats all day, A buddy of mine was fishing the MWC and was in the Flats today and said it was slow going there as well. The Bite was hot and heavy on Sunday and Monday last week and has faded hard. Hopefully it will come back! Crying

Tried my luck again off the wall at Starved Rock. Got out there mid afternoon and stayed until sunset. Nothing really happening though I did see more fish being caught and more fish actively hitting the surface than before. I had one pole suspending a minnow off the bottom and jigging with another. Using large minnows. Caught two saugers, threw back one. Caught a flat head jigging. It was only about 12 inches long but nice looking. Told it to grow up more and threw it back. The line off the bottom produced a small drum and about a 2-3 lb channel cat. Never rained. Drove through rain to get there but stopped and was dry when I got there. Wonder with all this crazy weather if the saugers will run or not. Water level continues to be low.

GOOD LUCK

dad went down to the wall this morning. came home with a keeper sauger and missed two others. said there wasn't much else going on. jig and minnow were the key.

I guess it could have been a sculpin instead of a goby. I did not check the pectoral fins. Either way, they both are reported to be in the River. I will check next time. Smile
