Illinois River, Starved Rock
Second, keep an eye on the weather reports. Try and fish in an area along the river that has SOME slow moving water, that's where the bass will resurface for food (inland). Spinners, spoons, crappie rigs, and floating sinkers are really the best set-ups that I have found. You will want a larger weight since you are going to be on moving water. And REAL bait works better than a lot of the fake stuff people throw out there. Nightcrawlers are the best, and if you got kids....the bluegills will give them the time of their life!
And last but not least...get out early! Yes, there are about 250 species of fish and other wildlife that live in the river, but your chances are better early in the morning. So grab your coffee, your wife, and your kids, and hit the road! Hope you guys do good...hopefully this was somewhat good advice?! Let me know how it went, love to hear if my advice worked!? THANKS!
Thank you, Rob Smith
