Hey,

Looks like the Illinois river has just as good whitebass runs as the "world famous" Wolf river.

Any general vicinty information would be greatly appreciated. I have never fished the Illinois and even were to put in would be a help.

tight lines

Took a trip to starved rock saturday. Caught a whitebass on almost every cast. We had three guys and we had 12 doubles and a triple. Caught well over a hundred. All fish caught on blade baits by one of the bridges. Kept 45. We cooked up 20 of them and the did not taste to well. Cut the mudline out and fried them up in shorelunch. Do you guys soak them in milk or saltwater first? They were pretty nasty. Well sure was fun out there. Tight lines CSS Big Smile

Me and a buddy caught well over 100 whitebass today from the Rock down to Spring valley. Most on blades but some on roostertails and even some other junk we threw at em! John caught the biggest whitey at 2.6 pounds....what a fight!!!

Whole area is flooded from above Morris to below Peoria.

Wait a few weeks for the water to recede!

Sad

Water is low low-LOW. i haven't heard any decent reports except fishing is slow..

I'm heading to Seneca this weekend. I think the river water temp has dropped to the mid 70's.

I'll post a temp when I get back.

Smile

Any one been out of Starved Rock recently? Neighbors and I are coming down for wine tasting in a couple of weeks and would like to get some fishing in while the wives enjoy some wine.

Water temp is 45, water clarity is no 2 in very dirty. River is on the rise , higher than normal .Go to www.spring-vallry-walleye.orgriver.htm, then click current river conditions, on there is a link to Illinois walleye trail then click on ill. river conditions it will give you lock and dam report for Starved rock , Lasalle /Peru and Henry current river readings . The sauger can be caught in high dirty water bulk up your jig or crank em with loud baits and bright colors , they will be in close to the bank, sometimes jigged them up in 4- 6 fow. Check all current breaks .

Was there on Monday and the water was 3 feet high and dropping. Clarity not bad. Caught 11 sauger. MWC tournament is this weekend with 160 or more boats. If you don't mind the crowds the conditions will be good.
