Never fished Evergreen. Trying to go by the end of this week. Are boat rentals going to be open? Also, any tips for spring muskies?

The lake is open. The water was 40-43 degrees depending on where my boat was on the lake last weekend.

I had that very same thought livinthedream. Drilled holes and fished within 10 feet of that open water in 2 different spots.

Only marked a couple of fish with no biters.

Three guys, three sleds full of gear. 200 holes later and about 5 miles on foot, nothing!!! We could not find my fish. Theory, maybe with all the open water by the pump house the fish are hanging out there with plenty of oxygen and food stirring around. Regardless waste of drive and have a very sore body. JUNK

My 2 buddies and I struggled on Evergreen this past Saturday. Moved around a lot. Found the water to still be stained.

The fishing was terrible for us. I hope the rest of you had better luck this past weekend!

Thanks again Muskie, might be going out Sunday night after the SB. I would love to catch a walleye or some crappie at night. I have about 45 min drive from where iam. Also got a new aqua cam 715C so can't wait to try it out.

This time of year the fish have moved from the shallow mud coves and shorelines to the deeper main basin areas. We have caught several crappies this time of year as deep as 30+ feet down.

Lately we have been getting the saugeye and crappies off of main lake points around 20' of water. Jigging spoons with no bait on them is all I ever use. Haven't used wax worms or any type of live for over 20 years. At times if the fish are looking more than biting I will put 1/3 or 1/2 of a Gulp wax worm or maggot on 1 of the 3 trebles to give them a target.

This year has been 3-5 lookers for every fish that bites. Even for a buddy of mine that uses live wax worms. I have caught a lot of crappies and a dozen or so saugeye out of Evergreen this year, but have had to work for every one of them. Not the best bite this year, but not the worst either.
