Late report for Easter Sunday. Fished 2pm-7pm. Ended up with 12. Nothing bigger than 11". Had to work for them. Mini-mite under float. Had to keep it moving or no bites. Even tried minnows and not one bite. Did also catch a handful of small whitebass. Great day to be out.

Started off the day bass fishing. Had hard time finding fish as my trolling motor decided to go bonkers. Finally found a cove near the campground that let me drift at a normal speed. Ended up with 6 bass. All released. Nothing huge. Pic is of the biggest one. Ended the day crappie fishing unexpectedly.  First cast i hooked into a beast. My personal best. 2.3lbs caught 5 others 9"-10". All caught on mini-mites. All released. Even the big one. She was full of eggs. Had to let her go.

Fished Labor Day 6am-2pm. The very early morning bite was good for largemouth and saugeye. Nightcrawlers around 10-15 feet for the saugeye and bladed jigs in 3-8 feet with heavy weeds for the largemouth. At 8am the wind did a 90 degree switch and the fish almost completely stopped. Even large schools of bluegills would barely peck at the worms. Weed growth is still very thick, but some patches are already turning a brown shade of color. Whitebass and bait are still out in 25+ feet pretty much all over the lake. Water was 78 when I left. Bring on the cooler weather! Good luck!

saw this on another site wednesday ...

- Bass were FAIR on plastics, jigs and spinnerbaits off deep points, around deep timber and weed edge with a few on topwater real early in day.
- Bluegills were FAIR fish on wax worms and crickets around shore cover and best with shade.
- Catfish were FAIR on most baits
- Crappie were SLOW-FAIR this past weekend on minnows fished or drifted over deeper cover

Has anyone been on Evergreen lately? I am planing on taking my girlfriend and her kids fishing there tomorrow. Two of them are only 8 and just starting to learn how to fish. So it will be a lot of bobber fishing but they do want to try and catch a bass. I was just wondering what the lake conditions are currently like. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Out at daylight. The wind was out of the North at 10 Mph. Water temps were in low to mid 80's. Caught 16 Walleye/Saugeye on plain worms and small Chartreuse  curly tails with a piece of worm, drifting with the wind. Quit around 3 pm. One was 18 inches one was 17. The rest were between 13 and 15. The fish were a little tentative in the early morning but getting more aggressive as the morning wore on. Catching slacked off in the early afternoon. As has been said before, on flats close to drop offs. Which flat works depends on wind direction. Have a good one fishing!

I don't fish for them, but I hear that a lot of saueye are being caught just about everywhere on the lake.  Everyone seems to have about the same story. They are catching good numbers of them, but all are under the 18" length limit.

Just find a long flat close to deep water and you will find the saugeye.

I have fished here a few times for bass, but have been hearing good things about the sauger population. Does anyone have any pointers on where some of the better areas are to fish for these as I am going to take my wife out fishing and was hoping to catch at least a few instead of spending whole day guessing? I am new to sauger fishing and would appreciate any tips. Thanks!!

I am hearing that a lot of people are going out and catching good numbers of saugeye, but not many of their caught fish are exceeding the 18" minimum length limit.

The weeds are getting out of control.  A lot of floating dead weeds and moss blobs.  This weekend will be a zoo with the triathlon and bass tournament both going on same day.
