MOON PHASE (97%)
Waning Gibbous

Late report....from Friday 4-27th...launched near deer Island....teams were out from the locale high schools for a tourney...didn't see any fish caught...but it's a big lake and has plenty of out of the way places to get into....we checked several areas and marked several schools of crappie..but they were as lethargic as the bass.... our best fishing was against a wind blown shoreline casting baits from Wackem&Stackem custom baits....they have a micro bait called" Suicide Minnow "that really trips the trigger on crappie...give these guy's a try....lasted longer than most plastic's I've used....crappie on Evergreen seem to likem'

The Mclean County Parks site says that only 2 hooks on a lure are allowed. Does that mean I can't use a crank bait with 3 treble hooks on it? Are does it mean I can't use 3 poles? Or both?

Any help is appreciated.

Musky fishing is tough off shore but in spring, they look for warm water which can be shallow. Make sure you have a depth map. Same with Walleye. Spring is pre spawn and they look for flats in shallower water... The problem is access to great spots

Student at Illinois State and looking to start muskie fishing this body of water, and maybe even keep some saugeye for food. Mostly fishing from shore, but if anyone has any tips at all on where to target these fish or what to use will be greatly appreciated!

Fished west end of lake. Tossed minnows to brush piles in 15-20 ft. Could not get a bite. Water level is up at least two feet since last week. Temperature 3 degrees colder due to snow run-off (40 DEGREES).                  Warden was out on the leka, checking for lake permits. Seemed to be an OK guy. Said nobody that he had checked was cathching fish.

Thanks TW! This time of year seems like you have to almost hit them on the head to bite.

Hope you have better luck soon.

Tight lines!

March 27th, water temps at the west end of lake was mostly 43 degrees. Found warmer water in coves (45-47) where the wind was calm. Winds were blowing 15-20 mph. Couldn't get anything to bite.

Spent Veterans Day on the water with 2 fellow Marines....we served together quite a while ago and its was a blast to share stories and fish "together" again....was cold and windy...water was 41° at the start and climbed to 45° when we pulled the plug...did better out of the wind...maybe we could see the light bites better...kinda near the end now...

Report is from 11-2-2017....was cold at the start and remained cold all day...got out of the wind in a few areas but the active fish were in the wind blown areas...we ended around 45 caught with 20 being keepers...tried the jigging spoons again and missed one nice fish in some trees near the campground...(rustic sites)....not a bad day....just wish the temps wouldn't cool so fast...we missed out on a few weeks of good fishing this fall...

No I don't usually tip them with anything.....I've seen guys use gulp products...waxworms...bit's of minnows...or just minnow heads....all will work....the plain approach works for me...the temps are now in the lower 60's....this pattern will work up to ice...and well into the season....we switch to finesse plastics once we get out on the ice...
