Got down into some garbage weather. Winds a blowin fierce. I must say I am a little surprised by all of the tournaments run on weekends. The crappie bite was very slow. Seemed like they prefered giant minnows over anything else. Caught 1 big'un crappie on a white bass assasin. The bass bite was suprisingly good if you could work in the wind. especially when the sun broke through wed. In 2 hours I caught 4 big fish averaging 21". 1 bass at a hair over 6lbs. all came on a jig'n craw. also did well with soft plastic jerk baits but most of those fish were smaller. fished 6-18 feet deep on windblown points and a few piles.

I was down there on the March 15-17.water temps were 49 lower end and muddy to 52 upper end and semi- clear. fishing was a little better farther from the plant.Weather was in the 50's in the day and low 40's in the night. I caughta few bass each day but fishing was fair at best.Crankbaits like rattle traps, bandits 100 and 200 series and Spinnerbaits(bigger fish).slow on the spinnerbaits and pretty fast on the cranks for being 50 degree water temps.Sorry I didn't post earlier but I did on chicagolandfishing.com

Just spent Thurs - Sunday on the lake. 54* on the hot end, down to 46* in back of coves on the cool end. They got 3" of rain before I arrived, and a cold front came through on Thurs, to where it got down to 17* during the night and 40's during the day. The cold front really shut down the bite. Fish caught on slow presentations on the drop offs. Boat control was difficult with wind gusts up to 15 to 20 mph. Bass are still staging. Crappie are still deep as well.
