Clint is the night fish tomorrow night ?
Ice update! There doesn't appear to be any open pockets of water. The top of the ice is not slushy, last night it all froze up. We drilled some holes this morning in the boat rental bay and found anywhere from 6" to 8" of ice. As always ice thickness can vary in different spots of the lake and no ice is safe ice and always check ice conditions for yourself.
You will definitely need ice cleats as the ice is very smooth and slick now. We do carry them in the bait shop if you need some.

Very slow today where I was on Shabbona. Did not get many bites, nor did I even see many marks on the locator. Fished the cribs along Somonauk Point and the NMZ. Wanted to walk out to the roadbed, but decided not to in the fog. Tried tip ups with crappie minnows, and threw every color jig I had at them with waxies and minnows. Got one 7" Perch I think the weather change had a lot to do with the lack of fish!
looking to get out this sat and sun ....how thick is the ice still and how is everyone doing out on shabby this year im calling in to work to get out this weekend and taking my little step newfew with be nice to hit sum hot spots if their are any out on shabby this year it be his first time out any pointers be appriciated i been their plenty of times best spots i know it bye the trees thanks safe fishing everyone
Started at the 0800 open time....be careful going in early....guess the site super or Conservation is tired of guy's being out there on the ice fishing before the park is open....walked a lot today and drilled the heck out of the ice....lot of spots showed weekend activity...to be sure ,before we left or during our check for fish, I dropped the camera...didn't see many fish...we caught several in a couple areas...not what I was expecting..??? got One decent fish in deeper water...but you had to be patient...plastics out fished bait for us....need another trip to get dialed in out there...water was pretty cloudy for first ice...Hummmm???

Fished 9:30 or so till 2 today. Warmer weather had the lake quite busy.
I hopped around for a while before finding active fish near NMZ in cover. Managed to get a hand full of those small thin crappie, 1 keeper crappie, a few small gills, and a few small perch. I was using a small spoon with waxworms as well as a jig with 1" gulp minnows.
The fish around all the obvious crib locations seemed uninterested in any of my techniques, probably because of fishing pressure.
I had best luck trying spots that looked fishy but had no previous holes.
