I was out this Saturday, the 19th of May. Met some folks. My trailer broke and several folks helped me - thanks a again if you read this.

Had a crazy fishing day. First fish of the day - a decent white crappie. As it struggled on the way out, a 40" musky came and grabbed him. I know the musky was 40 inches because I was able to put him in the boat after a long fuss. On Ultralight and 6 lb line and 1/64th trout magnet. If you want to see the full fight, it is on my youtube channel : i_fish

Crappie fishing was the same. Small crappie is not hard to find. I counted about 60-70 again, all but 8 were released, even the 8 were not quite keepers but some of them had bleeding gills and I knew they would die. I do mostly carp fishing and I can't say I know much about crappie (or anything other than carp), but I already think that it is pointless to fret about jig or lure colors or shapes. When u find the crappie, they will eat anything. I keep testing colors and can't tell the difference.

Went fishing Sunday, 5/13. Met a gentleman by the name of Willie at the ramp, he gave me some tips on where to find crappie, as I am still a noob. Tips turned out to be gold - thanks a ton! Got between 60 and 80 crappie, but fished all day. If  you find them, lure didn't matter. Took home only 6 crappie and 4 bluegill, but some of those had bleeding gills and I kept them because they were gona die, not because of good size. Biggest crappie was exactly 10.5" - not quite a slab, but a personal best for me. Also a 10 and 3 9s. So many 6-7 inchers.

I read some previous posts. I dont understand much, but if a noob like me can catch that many in a day it is very hard to believe the crappie is overfished. The schools were THICK. There must be a different reason for lack of big ones. Nobody releases fish over 10", so its hard to find 13 inchers. But there is no shortage of small ones..
